It's not too bad, but it's not great. They are two of the heaviest supported teams in Sydney. Having said that I fully accept that Mondays are poison for crowds.

 obviously not. rabbitohs, parra, bulldogs get more

has nothing to do with it be at a suburban stadium. it sounds like there weren't enough people selling tickets. trying to save money by not hiring enough ticket sellers is stupid and will lose you more money because what happened last night would have turned some people away (money lost), the bad experience may stop some people from coming back to some games in the future (money lost), some people ended up getting in for free (money lost).

Its more expensive purchasing tickets at the Gate.

At Suncorp at least.

If you do a bit of digging I think you will find most, if not all NRL clubs, are in the same boat. It is cheaper to purchase tickets beforehand than at the ground on game day (and that is including the booking fee).

As many clubs have their ticketing arrangements thru Ticketek or Ticketmaster, the ticket sellers on game day are from those organisations and they include the booking fee in the ticket prices displayed at the window on game day. That is how the ticketing organisations make their money.

I was wondering what the hell was going on.
I went to get drinks 30 minutes in, & a swarm of people started coming in.

Oh, and a big lol @ Mayer saying 'it's not a good enough'. That's more fans he's alienated from coming to Campbelltown. He'd be stoked

NRL Boss Dave Smith has revealed 50,000 pre-sale tickets have been sold to the first State of Origin game at the MCG, in 18 years.

Smith dropping in to the Hot Breakfast to talk up the Blues and Maroons battle in Melbourne on June 17.

"I'd say it's the greatest sporting rivalry in the country," Smith said on Triple M's The Hot Breakfast.

"We're lucky enough to have this big brand called Origin.

"We're bringing it fittingly down to the 'G, hopefully it's going to be the biggest crowd we've ever had for Origin."

Shame its not on a weekend. 50k is pretty good with a couple of months to go and not much promotion or hype re Origin yet.

screw that we can sell the joint out. 100k is capacity right? thats doable given it cant be a dead rubber.

once hype starts building post SOO 1 youll see at least 20-30k sold in those 3 weeks between games which leaves us with like 20-30k to sell over the next 2 months.

I'd doubt that 50K includes MCG members either of which there are 25,000
& while I don't think all of them will turn up
you can count on at least 15,000
meaning we're at over 60K in reality 3 months out.

90K plus is a given I'd of thought:D
