Doing my comparison of this year's crowds to the equivalent games over the last 5 years.
Round 6 (126k) was 2k down on average (128k). We are now down 37k in total. Over 2009-14, Round 6 has averaged +7k. The gap between this year and the trend is getting larger.
There were actually more positives than negatives this week. It's just that most crowds offset each other.
Positives for the Round were:
- Broncos vs Roosters +6k (biggest crowd for these 2 teams since 1994)
- Eels vs Titans +2k (biggest crowd for this fixture since 2008)
- Dragons vs Bulldogs +1k
- Rabbitohs vs Cowboys +1k
Negatives were:
- Warriors vs Wests Tigers -5k (smallest crowd for this fixture since 2007)
- Panthers vs Sea Eagles -2k (smallest crowd for this fixture since 2008)
- Sharks vs Knights -2k
Raiders vs Storm was marginally negative.
Next week's par crowd total is 115k.
- Dragons vs Broncos 13k
- Bulldogs vs Sea Eagles 20k
- Titans vs Panthers 12k
- Cowboys vs Warriors 14k
- Storm vs Roosters 12k
- Wests Tigers vs Raiders 13k
- Knights vs Eels 19k
- Sharks vs Rabbitohs 13k
i think dogs v eagles will get 15k at most
tigers should pull better, its a sunday arvo
so overall crowds are doing crap i gather?
On the decline? Our crowds this year have been pretty good.Knights crowds are on the decline, will probably get 18k
If Tigers fans are fair dinkum about Leichhardt Oval, the place should be packed on Sunday. It can be done.

19,428 turned out for this corresponding match during winter in 2010 (also on a Sunday arvo).
And Newcastle vs Parramatta should get 20k+. Would easily get 25k+ if the Knights hadn't put in poor performances in their last two matches. Nevertheless, first home Sunday arvo game of the year. Good weather and 20k+ is a shoo-in (considering they got that against the Panthers in the less preferable Saturday arvo timeslot).
On the decline? Our crowds this year have been pretty good.
16K against the Warriors
20k against Penrith
14k against St George, in what was a complete wash out due to weather.
Last year we played Para on a Saturday at 3pm in Round 25 and drew 18,500. Will probably get a similar to slightly higher crowd. Para always bring a good contingent of supporters.
The Knights have been on the nose in newcastle for a while.
The Knights have been on the nose in newcastle for a while.
Yet the Roosters are successful and no-one cares about them still, crowd average DECREASING after a premiership win is unacceptable.
