The first game of the season is next Thursday. Can't believe we haven't had an official NRL ad yet. Casual fans are going to be shocked that the season is on them already!
I hear membership ads all the time on Sydney radio

Compared to last years numbers the concerns seem to be: Dragons, Knights. And possibly Sharks/Titans unless they're keeping fabulous numbers a secret.

Knights over 12000 season ticket holders now and expect it to reach 14k+ again early in the season. Pretty fair effort if it gets close to that considering what happened last year.

Titans have introduced a round 1 membership for $20, includes 1 free kids ticket with every adult ticket purchased. Also gets 10% off all future Titans home game tickets

http://www.titans.com.au/news/2015/02/27/_titansfullhouse.html

Not a bad idea actually. Will hopefully ensure a massive crowd for game 1 and the cheaper tickets to the other matches may give crowds a boost for the rest of the year and dive higher membership numbers in the future

Smith just said membership is at 192,000

so around 7% growth?

pretty poor, been saying that all year.

started strong, but really petered off recently. that 400k target looks very hard to achieve now. needed 16-17% growth every year for 3 years to reach it.

12% will get us there by 2018.

It'd be a bit of a concern if after several years in the NRL they didn't already have the details for the majority of people who would consider taking up that deal to begin with.

It's just a poor excuse at bumping membership numbers to meet the financial KPI's set by the NRL for clubs.

I hear people defend these types of "1 game memberships" every year but they're a joke. It's a pretty inefficient and costly customer acquisition process afaic.

He said up 10% on this time last year.

How can the game expect to grow if they target the same people over and over, they certainly haven't exhausted their market opportunities. It's no different to most businesses, you entice new customers at the low end to then hope to upgrade them in the future.

Not even close.

A non-ticketed membership has value & purpose.

Selling a ticket to a Round 1 game and calling it a 'membership' does not.

It serves the same purpose but with a ticket to a game, you still get a membership card, go on mailing lists and receive most of the same benefits as non-ticketed. It is a membership.
