yeah ads and noise about the season has been non existent this year.

was better last year

Pretty much only seen stuff on fox sports (of course)

NRL should be happy with the Titans coke heads honestly, put the game back into a lot of peoples heads

A one game membership is not counted in totals - it's a non-ticketed membership (0-2 games).

Ticketed memberships are 3 games plus

How can the game expect to grow if they target the same people over and over, they certainly haven't exhausted their market opportunities. It's no different to most businesses, you entice new customers at the low end to then hope to upgrade them in the future.

Sure but my point is simple and I think you've missed it.

The majority of people taking up this offer should already be in their database.

If you want to target new fans think a little outside the box, turning round 1 tickets into memberships doesn't fall into that category. It's a lazy & inefficient effort at customer acquisition.

I understood your point but I disagree with it.

By that logic nobody is ever attending games for the first time.

It is not inefficient, it is a very simple way to entice potential supporters by making them members from their first game, with the hope of upgrading them in the future.

Even if they already had their data from attending games previously, they may not have ever considered becoming a member, this gives them a taste and a small sense of being stakeholders in their club.

That's a different value proposition to what you offered in your first rebuttals and whilst I still don't necessarily agree with the logic it at least make sense. I don't think access to one game and a few fringe benefits gives a supporter the experience of being a member, it just gives them a game day experience.

Like I said earlier 1 game memberships is just poor and lazy marketing and something NRL Clubs really need to step up and progress from. Think outside the box and provide a game day experience that will actually change your target markets opinion on attending games or provide a non-game day experience that will entice people of the local community to engage with their local club. These are the types of experiences customers should be receiving when looking to build membership bases.

I hate it when we applaud lazy marketing like 1 game memberships because it "gains data", there's far more proven and cheaper ways of gaining data it's not cost effective or efficient. In fact the whole 2015 membership campaign has actually been very disappointing so far, my club included. Recycled ideas and a lack of effort game wide.

I don't understand the point you are trying to make. As Timmah pointed out above it is not counted as a ticketed membership and therefore not counted in membership figures. What it does do is get people to go to round 1 that otherwise wouldn't/ From there the club has the ability to direct market to those new fans and hopefully the discounted tickets will entice them to go to more matches. If they do end up going to a few matches, a membership package may look enticing some of them may convert into full memberships.

What exactly is the downside?

The downside is it's not cost effective and it's lazy marketing. I don't know how many more times I can express that opinion for you to understand... I've only said it numerous times now across a few posts.

It's reflective of a larger concerning picture across the game IMO, criticism which doesn't seem to be going down too well here.

Why do you believe it's not cost effective?

As far as I'm aware some clubs count them in their membership tallies but some only include season ticket holders. Makes the whole thing pretty damn confusing.

At the end of the day it is simple. Membership is about investing in your club. The more you have investing, the better.

Even more confusing if you consider the pricing.

Knights
3 game member ( no scarf) $85
non ticketed member ( includes scarf) $85
cheapest home game ticketed membership $140

Souths
3 game member $95
non ticketed supporter $115
cheapest home game ticketed membership $245

Non Ticketed Memberships are not counted in Ticketed Membership tallies... thought that would be obvious. Total memberships, obviously yes.

Which ones are the numbers the club's and the NRL trumpet though, is that a total membership number or just ticketed? You'd figure total given Souths wouldn't have anywhere near 30000 ticketed members.

I'd like to know how many people are taking up the Titans one game membership. I bought two personally, yet they still haven't sent through the e-ticket like they said.

Souths ticketed membership are probably closer to 20k - no idea what the official figure is on that. Their total memberships are well past 31k now

FWIW they announced at the Charity Shield we had "passed 30,000 members with over 19,000 season ticket holders".

Current total: 31,757.
