When the heritage rounds first happened, the NRL went all out with old style steedens, referees in the "TNT" style shirts and cardboard striped corner posts. All of the teams wore the heritage jerseys on the actual weekend.

No it's kind of half-arsed.

Ahh I really can't stand these Men of League socks. Seriously, I will donate to them so they don't wear them!!!

Another point to add on heritage round is that it should be era-themed as well - pick a decade each year & have every team wear a design from that era.

If an expansion team wasn't in the competition during that era, they have the choice a local club or rep jersey from that time.

I think the ARLC needs to decide what they want the NRL to look like and create a unified look them deceminates from this idea....

Currently we have 16 clubs f*cking around doing their own thing, an the games image is, for lack of a better word, a clusterf*ck.

Ive said it a few times, the ARLC should centralise the design and creation (or at the very least a "last right of rejection") over all of the games Merch/jerseys, and they should take control of when certain gear is used (so ALL heritage gear is done this weekend and AONLE this weekend).

I dont believe we can excpect the clubs to slow down on the quantity of merch they release, but the ARLC should at least be giving consideration to the games branding as a whole....

Clusterf**k is a compliment to the NRL at the moment...

I've worked in a few large multi nationals, and usually the Marketing / Branding director is the most conservative pedantic prick in the whole company, they usually reject 90% of hair brain ideas... NRL seems opposite

I remember in the middle of last decade they actually did "retro rounds" where the theme was 70s or 80s and teams' heritage strips were supposed to come from that era. Great concept.

I think it's time for heritage rounds (like so many others) to go. It was a novelty once. Now, like most here have pointed out, it is half-arsed. It is probably a reflection of the NRL's ongoing identity problem, caught between expansion and Sydney. Heritage rounds, even though many teams do it, all too often feels like it is about Sydney teams recapturing the 80s.

We have a strong "product". Let's relentless play in the good jerseys of today. Remember, today's jerseys are the heritage retros of tomorrow. In 2040 are they going to have retro jerseys of the 2015 retro jerseys of 1985?

Move on, NRL!
