Bleach (sodium hydroxide) may have been used in bomb manufacturing, leading to a govt order restricting its use to the war effort?

A lot of jerseys went away from stripes to chevrons during the depression to save money. I think because the second colour was sewn on the jersey and therefore it saved material.

Cool, you learn something new....

Its funny to think the most iconic RL image (the chevron) can about by accident.

As the war hit hard at Canterbury in 1943, a change of colours occurred after a ban on the manufacturer of striped jerseys. The committee selected a long sleeve maroon jersey and secured white shorts, a uniform they said “would appeal”. The socks were predominantly maroon with the upper part being white. The shorts remained quite long while the boots worn were high up on the ankle with a much more predominant tongue.

According to former player Eddie Burns, the jersey was maroon with a blue V and as the jerseys were washed, the blue would fade away to a whitish colour.

The Dogs are out of the control with the jerseys.

It's sad. They used to be one of few clubs who didn't f... with their scheme much. It seemed they were one of the last to truly accept the away strip idea, and the inverted Blue/White V was classy in its own right.

Now that black crap is there, the gold 9's rubbish, this red abortion. Who the hell is getting a paycheque for this brand-raping creativity?

I think it must be CCC. Both Warriors and Bulldogs. But Ive learnt to not mind the Warriors crazy designs as they've almost definied their look but not have a defined look. But it's just sad that the Bulldogs are following suit

Has anyone bought one of these grey Tigers jerseys?

Worst jersey in the comp. Orange black and white, great colour combo, they virtually delete the black/orange and release a grey/white jersey. With grey socks. Wow.

It's no secret that Western suburbs control the merger now so we'll be seeing less and less of the Orange

Even allowing for that, we still rank among the teams who wear their main jersey the most. We limit the use of our away kit to when there's an genuine clash and this season only have two "alternate" kits - the heritage one we're all discussing now, and the flowery weird one that's already on sale (NFI when we're wearing it either). We didn't do ANZAC, Women in League and I don't see us having an indigenous jersey.

My understanding is they (the NRL) wanted the Tigers to provide a jersey that was a complete contrast to the home jersey. White & grey was the call.

They'll be wearing a predominantly Orange kit, strangely enough, at Campbelltown on Saturday when they host the Cowboys (05 GF tribute game).

Anyone know what occasion this will be used??

Its a shame they didnt use it for the ANZAC round (like the Roosters in sky blue)

Heritage Round - R19 v Eels. Eels will be wearing an 86 throwback.

Of course the Nrl wants a jersey that contrasts the home. Issues is they discarded the Orange (with black&white V) after only one year and added a non club colour.

awesome. So we'll have a potential match which could have looked AMAZING, with Eels in an 80's throwback and dogs in their home jersey that is based on their 80's jersey, between two of the biggest rivals in the game based on the 80's.

Instead, dogs will wear a jersey based very very loosely on the 40's that no one can remember and that they have never played in against Parramatta.

Yay for heritage

heritage generally refers to where it all began - in which case the Bulldogs are closer to the mark.

Maybe we need to bring back the term "retro round", because that seems to be what it's more about.

That is not at all what the word heritage means.

And even if we took your incorrect definition, the Bulldogs jersey would still be wrong.
