2015 Squad / Top 30

Gal already plays 80 minutes, touches the ball up to 3 times a set in attack and makes god knows how many tackles in defence every set.
Moving him to prop would actually lessen the load and get him out of the way of our attack.

Exactly. One hit up per set and 60 minutes per game.

Except Gal cant help himself doing 3 hits up per set, tackle himself to a stand still & 80 minutes
What is going to change?

Thinking of the 2015 backline and Flans approach.. Lets hope he makes it explicitly clear that he has high expectations for our young talent and that they are wanted and next in line if they don't immediately get a run... Jack Bird, V Holmes, Gagan, Nu Brown are our future and Flan needs to make it clear where they fit rather than cold shoulder them...

Starting to think we might see:

1. Gordon with Holmes next in line.
2. M Brown (Holmes as immediate backup, plays wing in D but swaps with Gordon for attacking moves)
3. Feki (give him first bat with Beale - Bird as the understudy, Leutele and Bird next in line)
4. Beale
5. Gagan (give him first bat)

Giving Feki a shot at centre may well be too radical a move for Flan but it does create a spot for Gagan.

Same applies for our 7.. Robson to start but Flan needs to encourage Murphy and Nu Brown to be hot on his heels.

Perhaps Bird beats Nu Brown as a utility off the bench? Other possibility is Nu Brown pops in off the bench to give Ennis a breather but maybe this is a 2016 move...

Also, importantly the critical player for 2015 could well be Luke Lewis. So much focus on Robson, but to my mind Lewis has much much more to offer and this, pending form could well be his last year in action. He was running half assed all of last year so lets hope we see him back to his ball busting creative best. Lewis may be the factor which lifts us into the semis...

Didnt Lewis have a stint at halfback at the pennies?

by the way, I am not suggesting we shift Lewy into halfback, I just vaguely recall he did play there??

Yeah he played both Half and 5/8 in small stints I believe.

He was in some mighty form when he played in the halves at pennies but was younger and quicker.

I don;t mean Lewis should play in the halves at all, I think he should be back row possibly lock. Just mean all the focus about our weakest link being Robson when Lewis was barely there this season and if he can get back to his best he could be a huge factor for us.
