Like Sri Lanka against South Africa, New Zealand have saved their worst batting performance of the tournament for last. Southee/Boult/Henry will have to have a blinder with the ball.

McCullums weak as piss dismissal in the first over set the tone, and was reminiscent of Martin Bellas knock on from the kickoff of the 1994 Grand Final

We fought back to a place where we were ok and then fell apart

High quality bowling and fielding from Aust - wicket seems a bit two paced, but our dismissals all the way through were poor - a result of pressure more than great deliveries - most of the good balls were unrewarded...

Pretty much.

I enjoy when McCullum does well and he'd led NZ well in a great tournament for them regardless of today, but I have no problem saying that I'm not a fan of his.

Yeah, pretty much sums it up - McCullum was a kick in the guts, Guptill's horrific, as were most of the rest

TBH I think the occasion got to them - which was always a possibility.

They'll have a real crack with the ball, but almost certainly not enough runs - no scoreboard pressure here

Maxwell is brilliant in the field, he's picked up a few run outs this tournament with some cracking throws.

I think we'll be far too strong for the kiwis with the bat here, but our line up has a lot of guys who are explosive bats (Clarke and Smith are really the only two guys who can slow it down and grind). If New Zealand can have those two back in the pavilion (along with an opener obviously) with us sub 100, then they're a shot, otherwise they're no chance.

NZ should see this as a build toward consistent high quality. Like Australia NZ have a good bowling attack.

As for Australia Clarke's captaincy is such a key, imo that was the diffenrence v India. This game is a long way from over.

As I said earlier in the thread, Australia shouldn't count their chickens.

WC final pressure. Two best bowling attacks. A real case of waiting to see both sides bat before passing judgment. Having said that, Clarke would have fallen over himself to take 184 to win at the start of the day even before the toss.

Definitely got overawed today, everyone apart from Elliott and Taylor looked wobbly and nervous.
Australia were on the money as well, it was a combination of good bowling and bad batting.

Our only hope is our main four bowling amazingly and we clean out the game within 40 overs.
Someone needs to produce a Shane Bond 2003 spell.

Only 4 will bowl today I reckon - perhaps Anderson will get an over
