Someone should ask dale steyn how many world cups he has won.

South africa are always mentally strong when their in the playing in the world cup.

In saying that they have always been pretty strong in test cricket won last 3 times out here.
And with the hopelessness of our batters it wouldn't have mattered if the ball was swinging or not they would still be nicking them.

Lol at all the Steyn hate.

He's right - South Africa thrashed us with the bat, spanked us with the ball and are much stronger than us mentally.

The lolly may or may not have played a part, but Australia are pathetic, and this lollygate saga is detracting from South Africa's dominant performance.

Its true, Australian cricket's pants are down around its ankles

But they did cheat also .... their bowlers were doing things with the ball at 20 overs that everyone was amazed at

perhaps they should change the rules to make minties, sunscreen, etc allowable on th ball? ... I mean who hasn't done the sunscreen thing? ... just don't let em take out a can of mr sheen

Except that they didn't cheat. He rubbed saliva on the ball, nothing more
Rubbish - watch the footage - he clearly has a lolly on his tongue and is practically ramming his fingers down his throat to get as much of it on his fingers before putting it on the ball

And no, i repeat, it is not why we lost but it certainly helped their bowlers

Unless he rubs the lolly on the ball, which there's no indication he did, all he is doing is rubbing saliva on it.

It's absolutely no different to Steve Smith chewing gum like a maniac and shining the ball

If anything our quicks rubbing their sweat (with a liberal helping of sunblock) on the ball is more "cheating" than what Faf did

Which is clearly why the ICC are looking into it

As i said earlier, i'd probably prefer they change the riles to allow this sort of stuff and take out the grey areas

Yeah, because the ICC are a bastion of logic, reason and sense.....lol. They're FIFA-lite. A pack of out of touch muppets who are at the whim of whatever the sub continent bloc feel like at any given time. They'll be investigating whether he actually rubbed the lolly on the ball at any time. If he did, then that's a no no. If he didn't, there's absolutely no case against him

Look, Faf's actions probably seem questionable to a lot of rational people.

But Steyn is 100% right, imo - they have savagely thrashed us, and we should applaud their efforts.

I mean, Faf's potential ball-tampering did not make their batsmen take the Tests away from us through sheer gutsy, old-fashioned Test match batting...

This current Australian Test side is a shambles, but the Proteas are a brilliant side, and are deserved winners.

Do you really want to know Suit??? The return of Matty Wade was enough for me.

Actually, don't worry. I did a quick search. I like it because it's looks like they are planning for the future. OK, so Wade got a recall. I oversaw that and looked at the youth they are bringing in.
Don't let the door smack your arse Rod Marsh on the way out.
This team was going no where under the current regime.
We may very well get our arses kicked in the last test. In fact, we probably will. No matter.
There are some kids getting a taste of test cricket. Some talented kids. I like it.
Call it the rebuilding stage if you will.
FFS, we need it.
How could the current state of test cricket get any worse?

While i can see the merit of the team picked, how does Nic Maddinson get picked over Kurtis Patterson? Or Callum Ferguson or Alex Doolan.

I am going to the first 2 days of the test but worried already.

I've got no problem with some fresh blood, but to throw a young 20 yr old opener in after just 12 fc games is a little unfair. Against the best attack in the world in a D/N game. Hope they then give him a fair crack. Maddinson has not done enough to earn a cap IMO and as for Wade well FMD. Bird will get a game when he should of played on his home deck instead and Sayers the swing bowler who would probably be a handful under lights will be 12th men. Just chasing their tails they are.

It's probably the worst Australian side I've ever seen. At least when we were trundling out the likes of Brad Williams, Brett Dorey and Mick Lewis we had good batsmen. And it was only ODI cricket. We'll struggle to get triple figures again unless Smith, Warner or Khawaja manage to do something special. And even then we'll give SA a 30 run start with the way Wade keeps....
