lol. Josh Hazlewod had one job to do - just stand at the other end and run when required - and he f**ked that up. Didn't even have to face a ball and he still screwed it up.

I bet Stoinis is filthy with him. Absolutely filthy.

Has it ever happened before? A 54 run partnership, where the 2nd batsman didn't face a ball?

I found it hard to believe when i read it ... how many balls did stoinis face in that partnership? You'd have to think at the very least 3 to 4 overs

yeah - he faced the last 4 overs or so. There were a few occasions where they could have run 2 but didn't run at all so they may have got there had they taken the runs on offer. The funny thing was they needed 7 runs from 3 overs so there was no need for Hazlewood to be so far out of his crease like that. Stoinis would have got the runs easily.

Yeh, I was watching as well mate. Stoinus's innings was astounding.
I think Hazlewood panicked a bit considering it was the last ball of the over. In saying that, it was a very smart field placement by the Kiwi's and just extremely unfortunate that Stoinus hit the ball straight to the bloke.

Cheers. Truly remarkable.
The other thought I had was that if this game had been played at any other ground, Stoinis would have been out way earlier. Most of his 6's wouldn't have made the boundary at most Australian grounds.
Eden Park is so stupidly small for cricket.

yeah maybe. Mind you - a few of his sixes cleared the fence by a long way. But also a bigger field means more space to hit into as well.

Lots of examples where the 2nd batter didn't score, but what about not facing a ball?

EDIT: Hazelwood has the record (26 mins without facing a ball). Previous was Afghanistan's Amir Hamza with a 10-minute diamond duck against the Netherlands in a T20 international in 2013.

Great innings from Stoinis but silly stuff from Hazelwood. It would've been one of the greatest victories had Stoinis got us home, especially when they were 6 down still needing about 150 odd to win.

With us out of the 9s, interest turns to this match between aus and nz.

I know there are a lot of meaningless one day matches but we win this game, we win a trophy and retain number 1 ranking in one day cricket

If we lose, kiwis win a trophy and saffas get number 1 ranking.

That would be a bad day.
