I missed all the play yesterday because I did not have Ch507. It wasn't until I re-booted the IQ3 that it appeared all too late.

Behrendorff took 9 for 36 in the Shield today. Must be a long time since anyone took 9 wickets in that comp.

EDIT: Seems the last time was 1984, Bob Holland.

On some of the flatter wickets, O'Keefe will struggle to be a threat. But on this one he is the best option we've got.

I'm a bit confused about this comment.
India has arguably the best spinners in the world, and are playing on their own doctored pitch, yet a nuffie like O'Keefe is tearing them apart, while we handled their spinners not too badly.
What gives?

SOK averages 23 in first class cricket but has been left out for years for inferior cricketers.

Not getting on with Clarke didn't help him, just ask Katich.

This isn't a regular old Indian 'turner', nor is it similar to what India have produced over the last couple of seasons* . It is cratered and has had variable bounce and spin from day one. What we'll cop in the later tests (I would think) are pitches that are quite good to bat on for at least a day or two.....no great spin, but similarly no great bounce or pace.

So, when you get a pitch like this, a guy who is accurate, and bowls at the stumps like O'Keefe does pretty well....he doesn't have to vary the delivery in terms of spin.....the pitch will do that. He's been a very good 4th innings bowler for NSW for this reason.

* I think there might have been one other really odd pitch in the last few years.

EDIT: Have a think about who it was that took 6 for 9 for Australia about 12 years ago a pitch in a similar condition.

He'll create plenty of havoc on days 3-5 on most Indian wickets. He might find it tough in the first innings but Lyon tends to struggle in first innings as well.

Yeh, I'm not actually so sure. But would love to be wrong. He won't be embarrased, but I wouldn't expect anything like a repeat of this. He'll still be picked (obviously) and should be.

The Indians will basically want pitches that negate our fast bowlers. They don't necessarily want ridiculous turners.....Ashwin and the other chap will be quite effective on pitches that turn a bit less.

In one post you say this isn't the old Indian turner, and the next you say they'll want a pitch that turns even less and negates our fast bowlers - hence favouring their spinners even more. Yet, out fast bowlers haven't been dominant here, although they have bowled well.
It's been OUR spinners that have dominated, and not theirs.
Yet, heading off to India, we were considered to be the underdogs in the spin department, and we (O'Keefe mainly - and yes, it is early days) have owned them.
I still ask - what gives?

It was Clarke, and that pitch was much worse than this one.

All I said was that O'Keefe will be not much of a threat (i.e. an attacking threat) on what I suspect the later pitches will be like. And I'm happy to stand by that prediction (though I hope I'm wrong).

I suspect that you have misinterpreted what I'm saying about negating fast bowlers. A slow, low-bouncing pitch reduces the effectiveness of fast bowlers. A pitch that generates inconsistent bounce, grip etc (like this one) doesn't make fast bowlers inneffective....but the bonus is much more in favour of the spinners.
