All I said was that O'Keefe will be not much of a threat (i.e. an attacking threat) on what I suspect the later pitches will be like. And I'm happy to stand by that prediction (though I hope I'm wrong).
I suspect that you have misinterpreted what I'm saying about negating fast bowlers. A slow, low-bouncing pitch reduces the effectiveness of fast bowlers. A pitch that generates inconsistent bounce, grip etc (like this one) doesn't make fast bowlers inneffective....but the bonus is much more in favour of the spinners.
I get that.
That's ok.
I suppose my point was that this pitch was already doctored to negate our pace attack and favour their spinners (it was already reported in the media as being as such, but we happened to win the toss).
Yet, we have outplayed them in all facets of this match, (whether it has been our early fast bowler wickets from Hazlewood and Starc) not forgetting that their fast bowlers had first use of such pitch.
Then, our spinners put theirs to shame.
Anyway, I'm just happy that we tore them a new one. The sweetest victory of them all has just been completed.
I love nothing more than beating the Poms in any Ashes series, but the Poms aren't as arrogant as the Indians (although their media is cheeky).
We have just stuffed one right up the Indians. I hope the series continues in the same vein.
That was an absolute smashing. The likes of which they have rarely received on their own turf.
Long may it continue.
Yep, couldn't agree more.
I like watching India lose....particularly Kohli (he is bloody good, but he's an annoying wanker).
I feel the same.
Funny thing is, I can't help but think that if he was an Aussie, we'd love him.
I love his competitive spirit.
Very much so. Got a bit of mongrel in him.
He's an Indian version of one of us.
What I don't get is why some of our fans are annoyed by this?
Stones? Glass houses?
Tbh i always thought some of ours were dicks at times tooHe's an Indian version of one of us.

Yes, but we've only played 2 1/2 series there since 2004 (10 matches, 8 losses, 2 draws)Is it really 13 years since last win in India ?
Coz he's their mongrel, not ours, I guess. There's nothing too rational about sports fans.
Yeh, I'm not actually so sure. But would love to be wrong. He won't be embarrased, but I wouldn't expect anything like a repeat of this. He'll still be picked (obviously) and should be.
The Indians will basically want pitches that negate our fast bowlers. They don't necessarily want ridiculous turners.....Ashwin and the other chap will be quite effective on pitches that turn a bit less.
No you didn't you peanut!!
I don't think anyone is expecting a repeat of this match and I still think we have a mammoth task ahead of us. What I am prepared to say is that I believe O'Keefe will be more of a threat than Lyon throughout the series.
I guess we'll have to wait and see. However, tonight we celebrate what most (including myself) thought was unachievable this series.I think SOK will be more economical than Lyon, but I reckon Lyon will take more wickets from here on. But that's 2nd order....Starc is the guy....if he stays fit. I would think that innings will go quite a bit longer and reverse swing is the killer.

That pitch actually was not worse than this one.It was Clarke, and that pitch was much worse than this one.
