Does that mean no cowboys players playing now? Phew, happy with that.

Oh and this shitty concept can get in the f**king sea. Now that we have the 9's its the perfect remedy for a lack of footy in he offseason, short and sweet and best of all... Entertaining. Not to mention the whole racist thing.

Preston was on to something when he championed this idea, unfortunately we now have the Nines and the WCC has turned into a premiers-and-the-losers-are-invited-too comp.

If they want these games to be successful they need to place a rep ban on players who withdraw without a serious injury that can be verified.

Withdraw from the All Stars match. Cop a 1 rep game ban and miss an International or origin match. Likewise with City vs country. Otherwise these matches should just be ditched altogether. The team to begin with was a joke. All these withdrawals have left us with sides that would struggle to win an NRL match against a good side.

The game definitely lost something after it was cancelled the for the 1st year of the nines. The biggest mistake was doing away with the fan voting for the NRL team. It at least gave people a reason for investing in the NRL team because we the fans picked it. I cant remember their being so many withdrawals in the early years of this concept, maybe it was due to the fact that the fans picked the nrl team so players were a bit honoured to be chosen by the fans and maybe felt an obligation to play. It seemed only major injuries ruled players out. Now we have players pulling out with 'calf strains'. Also doesn't help that wayne Bennett was picking dull sides to begin with, with picking reserve gradera from his club team ffs. As an indigenous person this game means a lot to me, it does wonders in the NT and Northern western australia spreading the game to communities were afl is king. Indigenous all Stars gear flies of the shelves here, the local sport shop sold out in a day. I believe if we go back to Preston campbells original idea the game would flourish like the early years, but unfortunately i think some involved in the nrl, including one of the coaches, is deliberately trying to sabotage the concept from the inside

Without justifying Matt Wright's inclusion into the "All Star" team too much; he really was the easiest replacement for Winterstein to satisfy all the selection requirements (apart from the obvious Star requirement). Both are backs, same club (Cows) and both represented Samoa to satisfy the "World" requirement.

The fact that Wright is a fringe first grader, and is replacing one of our best 17 is just a happy coincidence :sarcasm: :p

The only reason this game was ever interesting is that it was the first football of the year. Now it's just meh.

And now it's not even that.

There are two games on the same day before this one which to most will be of more interest.
