Predictions for which teams will have biggest growth in attendances?

Would hope that the Cowboys & Broncos can increase their averages. Hold concerns over Canberra & Gold Coast, both need decent starts to year considering their membership numbers.

Knights can only get better. 17k average coming last. If the knights have any sort of improvement on the field that will increase.

2009-2013? Trend was a high then a low and then a slight overall pick up in last three years. You need to look at three year trends over a ten year period to see what is happening beyond freak years of either a high or a low. Same with NRL. We have been reasonably static for a long term with a three year trend of a slight drop.

Our trend looks like this
2006-2008 around 15.5k
2009-2012 increase to around 16.3k
2013- 2014 drop to around 15.9k then last season a significant drop from the
Previous two years 15.9k to 15k. We will see this year if that was a glitch and we get back up to our norm which is around 15.9k-16.4k or if the low trend continues.

Maybe the eels and Knights will be more successful and bring the avg up a bit. Cowboys might increase on the back of the premiership and possibly warriors if their signings perform. Other big fanbases seem like they will be up near the top, Souths, doggies and Broncos so expect their crowds to perform strongly. Others are lower fanbases and likely to remain similiar.,over all if eels, warriors and the other big clubs all perform well on field I would expect to see the NRL crowd avg go back up to around 16k - 16.5k this season.

13,421 at Charity Shield, 6,052 on Sunny Coast for Storm v Tigers. 35-40k at Suncorp it looks like.

No figure from the Whangarei or Penrith trials as yet. 2.5k or so last night at Wynnum.

37,339 at the All Stars. Not bad given some rough weather swept through in the lead-up (or so I saw someone tweet?)

Charity Shield used to be the unofficial season launch. Used to be the only trial match in Sydney. Used to be the only televised trial. Used to attract lots of neutrals keen for their first fix of footy.

Now the 9's launches the season, the Shield is an arvo game warm up for the All Stars which gets all the media through the week. There werre games in Penrith and Cronulla this weekend.

Not saying we shouldn't have 9's/AllStars but if you are going to judge Charity Shield crowds it has to be in context!

Afl has had a significant drop from 2012 but the GWS and Suns played a major factor in the overall avg. I suspect. They did have a drop pre expansions in to 2011 and then a significant drop post expansion 12 onwards.

S15 has reduced in similiar amount to NRL.

.

Afl dropped a couple of hundred thousand spectators despite 20 odd extra games per year, they also averaged more in 1996 than in 2015 off the top of my head.

Super 15 Australians crowds have dropped by a huge margin over the last decade, don't have the figures on me arm.

NRL have done well to hold a consistent crowd average over the last decade, probably the only sport to do so.

yeah youre right

AFL had a 37K average x 176 games in 2010 for 6.5 million attendees
in 2012 that had dropped to 31K x 198 games .. for 6.14 Million attendees
so a drop of 360K despite playing 22 extra games
their aggregate attendance is still not back to 2010 levels even with the opening of the new Adelaide oval which has boosted their attendances over the last 2 years

Australian super rugby games averaged about 26K in 2004
its down to 18K these days

when these sorts of stats are shown , the NRL's situation doesn't look that bad.
