Just think - if there had been the foresight to build a bigger venue in the first place, Canberra would be able to cater for far more than it does.

But you're happier blaming the NRL for Canberra not having the appropriate infrastructure...

Two words for you

Seems like they should move it to a bigger venue to ensure people don't miss out.

By the way, good on the Raiders for delivering 3 big crowds in a decade! Great effort!!
Hahahahahahaha
Says a fan of a club who couldn't sell their stadium out once after winning the comp lol

A bigger stadium
Yet the cowboys play in a smaller one & aren't affected

The inconsistencies are stark

I agree they shouldn't be able to play there - it's not big enough for preliminary finals. But there is no viable option in the same region (don't get me started on the new stadium only having 25k capacity).
You'll also find I'm in disbelief at Melbourne still being able to host preliminary finals at AAMI when Etihad is usually available.

Didn't the Cowboys sell out the ground a few weeks ago? I seem to remember a massive crowd vs maybe Storm?

Townsville is like 1400kms from brissy a totally different scenario, when the raiders are only a few hundred K's from Sydney.
Horses for courses bro.
Clearly Canberra isn't colder enough bro you need to chill and just be proud your team is playing in the finals.

That's not finalised yet timmah. It's a least going to be 30-32k from what I'm hearing up here and if they could find more money Townsville would love a 40k stadium. The only thing certain is Townsville is getting a brand new stadium in the cbd which is brilliant for the Cowboys and fans.

I apologise, it was in May vs Brisbane. 25,500 in a stadium that holds about 26-27k? That's near enough to a sell out. Second highest crowd average this season behind the Broncos, two other crowds north of 20k from memory.

I can only go off what the QLD government website says about it atm which is 25k

Yeah it's a bit hard to believe that there's only 5k tickets left when all categories are still available.

Yep, far far more.

Just over 5,000 tickets left for #NRLBroncosTitans Friday Night. Brisbane's ONLY Home Final: http://bit.ly/2cuV3v9

Clearly says 5k left, nothing about general.

Sorry mate, this is not my first rodeo. I guarantee you there are far more than 5000 tickets left. Hell, the entire northern level seven and half of level 7 east and south hasn't sold. Plus the 2000 odd restricted view seats haven't been released.

Sometimes we can't believe all we read. Maybe 5000 left out of the 44,000 odd general public seats. Maybe.

The crowds for this final series will be interesting. Last year was the worst regular season average in a decade but the final series was the best since the end of the 4 game series in the mid 70s. This year's normal season is up 1% will we have another year of bumper crowds for the finals? And if so does this mean neutrals are being attracted to the big games?

Phil Gould tweeted today saying the Bulldogs v Panthers game will "easily" get 25k on Sunday. Maybe there will be a crowd of 30k than since he knows about ticket sales and stuff.

30k or so would not surprise me.

Broncos v Titans - 45k
Raiders v Sharks - 28k
Storm v Cowboys - 26k
Bulldogs v Panthers - 28k

The above would still fall about 4-5k short of last year's opening week, and would probably make it tricky to advance the figure from last year's finals series tbh

A bit different - it's known that we'd not get much than what AAMI can hold anyways. People down here are so ridiculously brainwashed about AFL. During finals they forget there is any other sport that exists

(Unless it's like last year when there were no Victorian teams playing a home prelim!)
