Half agree. I think their game is better to watch at the ground as opposed to their games on TV, not better than Rugby League to watch at the ground.
But Rugby League does make a much better TV sport and definitely makes it a tougher choice these days. Along with the usual problems that are never addressed like ridiculous food and drink prices.
AFL get big crowds for 2 main reasons

Scratch that. AAMI was locked in this morning: http://www.nrl.com/telstra-premiership-finals-series-schedule/tabid/10874/newsid/101223/default.aspxInterestingly the Sharks Allianz Prelim is locked in - but Melbourne's at AAMI is not.
I've heard rumours they may be looking at a larger venue. Wonder if that will come to fruition.
There has been a big change this year around NYC games in Melbourne, from memory only one has been played there - back in Round 5. Storm's other NYC home matches were on the Sunshine Coast. There was no NYC game before Saturday night's Qualifying Final either.Last year one of the NYC games was played AAMI, regardless of who was playing.
Hopefully around 40,000 for the Sharks prelim, but I'd be surprised if they get anywhere near that.
They couldn't turn up for a all Sydney final yesterday why would they turn up for Melbourne and Qld final? Last year a lot of cowboys and Broncos fans went down for the first all Qld final but now the cows have won a premiership there won't be as much hype. Judging from the crowds storm/Bris/Cows get when they play Sydney sides isnt encouraging. Why wouldn't they?
Are you *actually* comparing a Week 1 semi crowd where one team was in awful form, played on the opposite side of town to both sides' home bases... to a Grand Final? They couldn't turn up for a all Sydney final yesterday why would they turn up for Melbourne and Qld final? Ridiculous doomsday rubbish. Drop the drama. After the crowd in Sydney yesterday I've nearly giving up hope of Sydney RL ever getting great crowds again.
Pretty easy. Canterbury lost 3 games coming into that game and it was played across town from the home areas of both teams. Apparently Panthers was packed with people who either couldn't or wouldn't travel as well.I can't believe the game yesterday didn't get 32k+. I seriously don't understand why there wasn't at least 20k dogs fans at the game. Will the Sharks fans travel to SFS? Are there many Sydney Siders who a neutral fans who want to go to a sharks vs Qld game at SFS?
30k is being very optimistic
There's a serious chance that game might not crack 20k
Bugger off with all of that, you were one of the people saying that sunday's game wouldn't crack 20, well it did. I was there it was still a great atmosphere despite the numbers, Penrith fans were really loud and I was pleasently surprised to see that many Panthers fans there. The dissapointment was with Dogs fans they probably had 11-13 or so thousand there which is prety poor considering they outnumbered roosters fans on a friday night there last year in a 38k crowd.I can't believe the game yesterday didn't get 32k+.
