That's pretty much how I feel about any teams alternate jerseys. The odd alternate jersey is fine but when we start doing Marvel Comic's jersey's we have completely sold our soul and lost our identity.

I am not a fan of the Bulldogs multicultural jersey but I think it would be a hard to make that concept look good on a footy jersey,

Would be better on the white home jersey template

While that Dogs jumper is an atrocity, it is broadly what concept jerseys should be; The basic/distinct design elements of the regular jersey with the topic-of-the-week brought in around this....

But, i should say again:

That Dogs jersey is an atrocity!!!

- PlayNRL
- ANZAC
- Indigneous
- Men of League / Foundation Round
- Women in League

Personally I think 3 would be fine - ANZAC, Heritage & WiL.

Clubs should be then free to do indigenous tributes throughout the season when it suits them e.g. tonight when Cowboys v Dogs is played for reconciliation cup

Though i do prefer clubs to use their Main jersey as often as possible, i accept the financial motive to these jumpers (as long as they never change their core image and play to that in all of the off-shots, im happy).

The think that shits me is the patchwork nature of all of this!!!!

The cowboys in an Indigenous jersey and the bulldogs in their regular makes the whole concept look amateur. Clubs need to wear the jumper once and only once and keep it to the correct day. None of this bullshit about holding off until they are playing at home.

There is a patchwork approach to the whole comp and it shits me no end. It is so unprofessional. We have it in the club logos (a shocking blend of cartoons and classic), we have it in our stadiums (lets not start on the Suburban grounds) and and most of all we have it in our jerseys and merch.

I really believe the ARLC should centralise merch production of all clubs and hold a veto over designs. The clubs are the face of the game, they NEED to be held to a higher standard!!!

What was the issue with last night? As mentioned the Cowboys and Bulldogs play every year for the reconcilation cup so it made sense for them to wear indigenous (for the only time this season) last night.

Im saying it looks bloody amateur for one team to wear a theme jersey and the other side wear their regular jumper...

Its disrespectful to the concept and it looks bush league. Either they both wear it or neither does.

Design across the comp is a patchwork mess. The ARLC need to take control of this set a standard...

The issue is, the nrl celebrates an indigenous round. All teams should have an indigenous jersey and it's worn only in that round.

If the NRL locked it in ad Rd 12 each year. And they locked in the 8 game opponents and each season did them home and away (like Anzac game), each team would wear their indigenous jerseys at home every 2Nd year.

Same with WIL, Men of League/promote NRL, Retro/Heritage. ANZAC weekends. Lock in the same rounds every year, lock in the teams and build up a home and away rivalry tradition in those matched.

It's great dogs and Cowboys recognised reconcilation but they should just play for the cup to highlight it.

It's interesting this discussion comes up - I'm signed up to the NRL Fan Forum thing where they send a survey once a month or so straight from HQ. One of them was about themed rounds with questions like how many should there be, as well as should all teams have to participate.

Indigenous round is something AFL does really well - all 18 clubs have to wear a themed jumper. I do wish it was the same here.

I agree.

Their themed rounds are really well promoted too.

I hardly knew it was Men of League round. Seriously, this is a bit off topic, but if Men of League and the NRL got together, started a proper Museum / Hall of Fame (and I can't see why they can't do one in Sydney and one in Brisbane), they could have the week leading in to the Men of League/Heritage round the week they endorse 5 new Hall of Famers, celebrate the history of league, and clubs could celebrate their pasts, wear cool retro jerseys and lead in to the MOL / Heritage weekend of games. There's plenty for all clubs to cheer for and we should be celebrating our code, our heritage and the gladiators who went before. Done right, the jerseys would follow suit.

Anyway...getting back on topic.

Seems they have just given clubs free reign to do as they please. Makes the comp look so cheap. Look at the once glorious saints jersey, what a mess of sponsor patches everywhere.

Whatever jersey Titans are wearing tonight (Heritage I guess) should be the home strip. classy

Thought the same thing.

It's a modern but classic look.
The all Light blue looks dumb, this looks like a Rugby League jersey

This years away jersey is a massive improvement too

I just find it so disrespectful to the Rounds concept...

The NRL uses it to try to sell tickets yet cant be assed coordinating the jerseys meant to honour it.

Its f*ck amateur hour!! Either get it right or dont do it at all. Half-assing it just shows they the clubs and comp dont really give too much of a shit about the themes.

Storm on field from last night had Vitara on the sleeve sponsor in place of the regular Suzuki. Different from the retail version obviously.

Also, those silver numbers were boss! Still wish Storm would have gold numbers for the homestrip permanently!
