Someone needs to show Gus this thread so he can see what the general public and Panthers fans think of his design, and so he can see what they think of other designs using the same color scheme.

He's absolutely clueless about this stuff. He might no footy better than most. But he doesn't know the first thing about design.

Have to say I think the Knights one is an eyesore, the Cowboys one looks like they are playing music, the Roosters one is very bland, whilst I think the Tigers one is very good.

Agreed. I love the completely "out there" feel to the 9's jerseys which is part of the reason why I don't like our Cowboys effort, we could've done a whole lot more with it, instead we came up with what looks like an alternate Bulldogs strip. Boring.

Nines jerseys might be unorthodox, generally, and thats not a bad thing. But you need to be able to easily recognise the club even if the design is unusual. The Cowboys one fails this test, a bit like that bronze bulldogs one a couple of years ago. That knights one seems to be a nod to the old sevens jersey feom the early 90s and its still pretty obviously a knights jumper.

Yep, 9s is a clubs opportunity to expand their brand....

It lets them (or lets the ARLC force them) to keep a single core design as their Main, while branching out in terms of merch. (it can also be a chance to test the water on new designs that could then be used in Alternate jerseys in the future)

I actually disagree on the Bulldogs Bronze jersey; the had the blue V over the top to identify the club, while branching into a new (read: ridiculous) design.

Much better than either the home or away. Should definitely be an away jersey in future years. Looks kinda like the minties jersey but has its own style.

This little tidbit from the article on the Panthers website re: the other teams drawn in our pool at the Nines...

As a result of specific directives from the NRL, the Panthers will wear their 2016 Away Jersey throughout the tournament.
