Quite a few black jerseys there though - would be nice to see Penrith in the old gold & tigers in orange for that photoshoot.

LOL at people now loving the black shoulder 1990's Bears jerseys.

Back in 1992 when Norths brought in the new design jersey, it was roundly criticised for being too black by fans and members, with not enough red.

So the club inverted the black and put in the red from 1993.

Still, that Citibank 1993-1999 jersey is awesome. Very fond memories of going to NSO with a mate who is no longer with us and watching Bears games. Between the two of us, every year was going to be our year. Funny how things turn out.

Interesting story, explains the move from the black-top to red-top 1990s jersey. Not sure why they then went to another variation with flame-tips in the late 1990s - probably one of the rarest Norths jerseys.

I always thought it was claw marks after a bear had been at it... but that was an awesome jersey.

Two things:

1. In 1992, I was 6, so I don't think I had that much of an opinion.

2. I was more saying that the black-top was a better contrast to the red and black hoops/bars than the red-top.

Sorry, wasn't having a go.

I just remember the hoo-ha in 1992 when it first came out. I just thought it funny and ironic that a maligned one year jersey was being praised now.

I see Mounties have ditched the yellow jumper with the V unless they decide to use that as their away jumper.

Wenty generally uses a white jumper with a blue and gold V.

Unless, people start referring the competitions as "Queensland Intrust Super Cup" and "NSW Intrust Super Premiership"

I'm pretty sure nobody has EVER referred to them as anything other than QLD cup, and nsw cup...
I know up here its only ever called q cup.



Also the Bears jersey, it obviously is claw marks not flames. And yes, ALOT of Jnr clubs flogged it.
