I just don't understand why the NRL made such a big deal of the rule.
They then shoot themselves in the foot by suspending one player for an innocuous touch in a team that was almost out of semi-final contention, but then back track when several incidents occur which will rob teams of players who are still competing for semi-final spots.
The inconsistency is at best incompetent, and at worse corrupt.
Either way, it's an embarrassment to the NRL with the major games around the corner.
Surely the NRL could've chosen something more appropriate than touching refs, such as throwing a ball into a player's face or tripping.
I remember Wes Naiqama was given a 2 week suspension for an attempted trip. These days, you don't miss a match for an early guilty plea, but you may miss a game (depending on who you play for) for an innocuous touch.
