Sione should challenge purely because he will be out for a month or so with a broken jaw so he would be better off having the 5 carryover points instead of 78

It's called the early plea, I think Captain Apollo made it up.

You need to read the link he provided. No contest is clearly a thing. I assume Sione didn't enter any plea whatsoever so he is assumed guilty but gets no benefit of the early plea essentially reducing his carryover points from 88 or so to 17 as he was never going to play this week

I am seriously struggling to see where a shoulder charge penalty, let alone the grade 3 charge they've hit him with, can be found in that Gubb hit.

It seems just heavy collision is now a dispensable offence (unless you are an NRL darling and have origin coming up)

http://m.nrl.com/gubb-suspended-for-seven-matches/tabid/10874/newsid/99396/default.aspx

Gubb copped 7, what a gee up.
How can a 5-7 week offence be so inconspicuous that it wasn't even penalised on field?
Argh

It wasn't a 5-7 week offence.

It was a 2-3 week offence for which Gubb had TWO prior similar charges in the last 24 months.

That's 50% loading each time, so 100% loading. Therefore the penalty points of 350 doubled to 700 and his option to contest meant that's what he'd serve if successful.

Also, for what it's worth Kyle Feldt's 2-3 week shoulder charge offence wasn't penalised on field...

I read that last night. Need to scrap the loading, 7 weeks ends up being pretty ridiculous for a tackle that looks like a shoulder charge.

Argh, he is serving 7 weeks, so it has ended up being a 7 week offence.

The fact that he is serving over 100% more time for a lesser charge than Feldt shows how f**ked the system is.

In fact, him being charged at all shows how f**ked the system is.

So the system is f**ked for considering anyone's history?

You don't think repeat offenders should cop heavier punishments?

He dug his own grave on this one.

So he was facing 7 weeks then?

Cool

Just caught up with the Gubb tackle. Holy hell what an embarrassment. Barely worthy of a penalty.

Should have just picked up Lussick up and dumped him on his head. You only get two weeks for that.

I am not a Gubb fan and think the suspension is harsh, even considering his history. In saying that, he is a maniac at times and probably will have these lengthy suspensions regularly.

what gets me is gubb pleaded guilty to the act of a shoulder charge and was only contesting the grading yet he still cops the extra 2 weeks.

system is f**ked

That was information available to him when choosing to contest the charge.
