Cronulla's James Maloney is facing 2 weeks for a Grade 2 Dangerous Contact (other) charge from an 88th minute tackle on Konrad Hurrell. The base charge of 250 increases to 300pts with 20% loading for a prior non-similar offence. An early plea (225pts) sees him miss 2 matches, while a contest at judiciary without success could result in a 3-match ban.

Josh Reynolds & Sam Burgess also have taken the early plea and are free to play in Round 22.

Maloneys charge is ridiculous. I've seen literally a thousand worse than that that never got charged. It was just a normal tackle from the the smallest guy on the field against one of the biggest trying to hold on.

So turns out not all clubs were told of the crackdown and how it would be policed - magically the Bulldogs were.

I don't want to be captain of the tinfoil brigade, but it definitely isn't a good look for Greenburg when adding Reynolds escaping suspension.

It's a joke charge. There was no leg twist, Maloney was just maintaining his grip in an attempt to slow Hurrell down. We had a sickening one against the Storm where Cheyse Blair literally gripped Mitch Aubusson's ankle and twisted it 180 degrees. He received a grade 1 charge and didn't miss a week.
