i've been a bit of a critic of goodwin in the past but he has been good lately and i'd be very surprised if he isn't in the team

Nope.
More important then how many metres made is how those metres a made.

well of course there are other important things but how many metres a forward makes can be significant. some smaller or less talented forwards can get put down as soon as they get to the defense, and sometimes even get pushed back. some better or bigger forwards can get more ground after getting to the defense and running hard on to the ball can make that difference too. metres made might mean a bit less for the second rowers though

It depends on what your after. He still has his problems defence, he still isn't fast ot evasive enough in attack and offers no threat. A few times today when they tried backline moves out his way he continually stifled the movement, resulting in walker and sutton constantly getting caught with the ball with no other option but to take a soft tackle. If you want traditional centres you'd go with hunt and auva'a. If you just want someone just to hit it up you'd go with goodwin. That is he's only strength really, is his hitting up ability, and he was strong in the first half in that regard. But somebody must of told both hunt and auva'a that they might lose their spot to goodwin due to his workrate, because both got heavily involved in the grunt work in the second half. By the time the game finished i think auva'a had matched goodwin in the grunt work states, and his far superior ability at actual centre play is what I think will give him and Hunt the nod

Diego no disrespect but what a pile of crap honestly league is a basic game
The team who's forwards make the most metres dominates the play hence giving plenty of point scoring opportunities to the fast guys to capitalise on the field position they are in because the Good Forwards Make Lots of Metres that's why their in the team
Ff sake talk about over scrutinise a simple bloody game
If the forwards don't make any metres the team loses not rocket science
So Sam makes 150 m plus a game steamrolls over the defensive line and drags 3 players for another 10 m
Yet another pussy forward could get smashed all game and make 10 m total and your trying to tell us the coach will pick the pussy because metres made aren't important it's how he made those 10 m
That's hilarious the heats fried your brain

You said it yourself.
Sams makes metres and drags 3 players forwards- its how he's making those metres
Player b is a pussy and gets smashed every time he he runs the ball- its the way he's making those metres (or lack-off)

Its a response to people who use the metres made as the only yardstick on how a forwards should be judged. That just because a player makes 100m means his had a good game and because a player makes less then 100m he has had a bad game. Turner has his role in the team and its primarily to stay on his edge and pose a threat in set pieces.
Tell me what you'd prefer, 95m from someone like Luke Lewis or greg Bird, who get quick play the balls, have an offload, pose a ball playing threat, good footwork. Or would you prefer 115m from tony wiliams with his flat footedness and taking an eternity you play the ball

George burgess was averaging 136m per game in 2014
He was averaging 132m per game in 2015, almost exactly the same
Most here will agree that George was nowhere near his 2014 form last season

Well said BR.

BR mate I'm sick of all the Goodwin hate. When he plays really well there is still criticism of him by lots on here.

Goodwin will be there Round 1 imo.

goodwin isn't the quickest outside back, but he isn't that slow either. he is quick enough to make breaks. he has had a few good runs in the pre season games. his tackling and decisions in defense have been solid. he chases the kicks well. he is a good back up goal kicker. he kicked 3 from 3 today. for some reason cook made 1 conversion attempt and missed a fairly easy kick. i'm very happy with how goodwin has gone in the preseason games.

i think olive will be good, but just isn't ready yet for first grade.

turner looked good today r20. i think he'll be in the team too

We see eye to eye.

Thanks for your truth telling.

You aren't bias against players, you speak truth.

We need Bryson to keep performing this way.

Same as Turner. We need him to keep improving.

Disappointing Titans scored 20 points. So Cam made a mistake in defence that led to a Titans try.

We're there disappointing efforts in defence that led to the Titans other tries???? If so who by????

Not too bad I believe.

Good.

Disappointing Titans scored 20pts.

Was Olive responsible too for letting in/making a mistake which led to a Titans try.

How'd the Titans score that many points??

Some of our players mustn't have been concentrating as well as they should be.

Souths dropped a lot of ball in the first half and were behind, better in the second session.

I didn't watch the game today busy but what I heard is that Goodwin had a good game today and Cook was one of the stand outs again today.

Cook was pretty quite today, can't actually remember him making many runs
Goodwin was good, but so was auva'a and Hunt. All 3 rotated through the game and all got pretty much equal minutes. Probaby all 3 have an equal chance for round 1 selection
