ROFL @ Yvonne's face in that article.

Reminds me of the scene in Frontline (Season 1) where Brooke Vandenburg was practising her poses for the show's ad promo and Yvonne's facial expression in that article is a dead ringer of one that Brooke did which producer Emma - behind the camera - coined the "bitch face"

"Why would you pay for an inferior product when you can get the best product for free?"

There are things that are annoying about both broadcasters. The thing that Channel 9 continues to fail to understand is that they've put the annoying elements of their broadcast front and centre. Gould and Rabbits are senile old fools. Ray Hadley is such an annoying twat most people I know watch his games with the volume off.

The real shit parts of the Fox Sports product (Matthew Johns and friends) usually have nothing to do with the live coverage.

I think regionals are holding their own probably growing by a few %, but metro 9 are getting smashed by Fox,

Some games shortly will have bigger regional numbers than metro for FTA..

Probably why memberships don't translate into crowds? Maybe a lot of regional people follow teams and become members but aren't close enough to get to games?

Also interesting that on regional channels nine only get 50% of advertising revenue so maybe that is why there is more emphasis on capital city ratings where the channels receive 100% of advertising?

No WIN TV pays 9 anywhere from 39% to 45% Sport is classed as special events which add another 3% included in those figures.
From July 1st SCA will give 9 50% but many things go into it contra, etc.
Affiliation fees have jumped significantly in the last 10 years.

Anyone have the ratings for Origin??

I saw an article saying it was the biggest ever, but i didnt catch any of the numbers...

nine will be happy

If anybody needed good news right now it was the Nine Network, and last night sports fans gave them just that.

The State of Origin game scored a whopping 2.7m viewers -the biggest Origin audience of all time (and with regional figures it will rise to 3.95m viewers). It was easily the biggest audience of the year so far.

In Sydney alone it drew 1.19m viewers, with 809,000 watching in Brisbane and even a timeslot win with 494,000 in Melbourne. All up it delivered a massive 45.0% network share, more than double its nearest rival.

That left other networks to adjust as best they could.

While Seven had a staggered schedule in various states, TEN managed to pick up viewers elsewhere with MasterChef still holding its head up at 897,000 viewers.

Following Nine?s win the remaining shares were Seven 20.2%, TEN 17.2%, ABC 12.3% and SBS 5.2%.

In addition to Origin, Nine?s remaining numbers were Nine News (1.09m / 1.09m), A Current Affair (959,000), Hot Seat (623,000) and an NRL Rookie replay scored 444,000 in 3 cities.

Seven News was 1.12m / 995,000 for Seven then Home and Away (789,000) and The Chase (714,000 / 417,000). House Rules only screened in 3 cities with 480,000. Criminal Minds drew 446,000 / 335,000.

MasterChef Australia still did good business with 897,000 for TEN. The Project was 731,000 / 505,000, TEN Eyewitness News was 541,000, Shark Tank was 539,000. Movie: Stepmom was just 197,000.

ABC News drew 772,000 for ABC followed by 7:30 (564,000), Shaun Micallef?s Mad as Hell (505,000), QI (406,000), Moonman (349,000), Antiques Roadshow (317,000) and Would I Lie To You? (241,000).

On SBS it was Armada: 12 Days to Save England (216,000), 24 Hours in Emergency (211,000), SBS World News (152,000) and Bosch (111,000).

ABC2?s Go Jetters (247,000) topped multichannels.

Sunrise / Today: 338,000
ABC News Breakfast: 129,000 / 47,000.
