in a GFWas only 3 years ago these teams were playing in front of 83k
bit different to a Thursday night with both going to miss the finals

but that was a GF hardly a fair comparison
they'd play in front of that many any time they played in a premiership decider minimum & probs plenty more in a bigger venue
they did play in front of 51,686 in a club game in 2013 but that was good friday
a fairer comparison , but still a bit skewed
but tonight is an utter embarrasment
a disgrace
The NRL couldn't care less about improving crowds. Can't think of a major sports competition in the world that places as little importance on game day attendance as the NRL admin.
I look at it like this..both clubs have a combined membership number of 50,000+
They should be able to get at least 40-50% of that...surely?
Even on an uninspiring Thursday night
the crowds for all 3 ANZ Stadium games next week don't look too promising.about 2k bulldogs fans will turn up for the manly game next sunday
were you there?Posted as 8,xxx something I believe

Tosser never misses a gameNot many were.
Embarrassing crowd. Let's hope this year serves as a wake up call to the NRL. I think there are multiple factors at play here and it's not just the timeslots (though obviously that's a pretty big f**king deal).
The NRL need to realise that it makes the game look amateur and like less of an event. This leads to even worse crowds and IMO it affects TV ratings as well. People want to watch something that feels like an event. I think that's partly why they ratings are down despite the fact that crowds are also down and we caved in and bent over backwards for the TV networks.
Feels good to rebel though! You shouldn't need to smuggle drink and food in if only they give value for money in hospitality.
