lets use ratings for the Saturday night final shall we

Sydney on fta & pay combined population 5 Million
424K
Brisbane 2.2 Million
345K

Id say Brisbane is about where it should be
& in Sydney ... we have a problem.
but in answering your question ... its obvious its in far better shape

Yeah ok but what does that prove? A load of Broncos fans watched Broncos play?
How do none Broncos games fare? Sydney has what 8 teams obviously here's not going to be the same level of interest in specific games over the entire city. Broncos have a potential supporter base in the city of 2.1 million no Sydney team has close to that.

Toronto had 8,456 for their final game of the season. A ground record. The NRL need to offer Eric Periz (Wolfpack CEO)a job running the Nrl.
Just ask raiderdave, the nrl has the best atmosphere in the world of sport. The nrl doesn't have a crowd issue .

It worked with the Broncos.

An entire competition consolidated onto one team and the sport is thriving there.

But of course Sydney is difference because.... reasons.
Because Brisbane Broncos was a new team for a better & thriving competition while most of the old teams remained in their competition in a town where Rugby League was already king.
Removing Sydney teams to create scarcity, will just remove the fans in place in the potential of outside markets that DONT have a league mindset and the potential that in 20+ years after the damage done by removing Sydney teams and the fans that those teams had are lost that maybe the new generations of kids will support one of the few Sydney teams left.

Melbourne is not Sydney.
Brisbane is not Sydney.
And Perth is definitely not Sydney.
Stop f**king comparing them when the history, geography and climate are incredibly different.
f**k knows when you dropkicks are going to get that through your f**king heads.
P.S. I know the answer is never.

I was at the broncos vs panthers game, the atmosphere was terrible to be honest. League crowds normally are. It's not an event to attend a league game, so it's too expensive to pay 40 bucks just to watch a league game, along with the pain of getting to and from the ground. What's the issues in Sydney you think ?.

Geography, traffic, poor marketing and poorly targeted press coverage. Along with poorly targeted development work.

Sydney is not dead yet for either codes of Rugby as I think as another poster said Eel's, Dog's and a settled West Tigers team alongside South's back home and Manly and Sharks could put 2 fingers up to Sydney as it's so-called now a new London type city and all the traditional communities have gone but you lot need to lynch Todd Greenburger first and piss on him alongside Fatty Vautin lookalike Pill Pulver from the ARU.

Not really concerned about the union situation. They have enough friends in high places. The issue for that sport is that it should have changed to rugby league rules way back and be part of the best rugby code in the world.

Its still makes me laugh at something that is very much a training run has been mythically promoted, and very well i might add, by their PR people.
