A one team state against the broncos tcould only get 16k to the game.
Perfect weather.
With no other game all weekend and first game of the year.
Plus the return of Billy Slater.

We are one pissy little area of Sydney , surrounded very well supported teams and got 2/3rds of that crowd in the rain against the same opposition.
Same timeslot and competing with 4 other Sydney games on the same weekend.

All things considered that was a pretty average crowd last night I reckon.

NRL heartland v AFL heartland. Apples and oranges. Keep trying to justify your small existence all you like but we can all see through it.

Ha
Excuses excuses
The entire state of Victoria managed 16k on a perfect night with no other game on in the middle of Melbourne.
Sporting capital of Australia.
AFL get more people show up to training.

16K on a Thursday night against team with almost 0 away support. There were essentially 16K storm fans there. How many games will the sharks (or any Sydney club) get 16K of their own fans show up? Even when it's not played on a Thursday most Sydney teams would struggle to match that crowd against an out of state team.

The first part of your post is bullshit that only the dumbest of posters believe. The storm face more competition than any other NRL team. Sporting teams don't exist in a bubble, you're competing with all codes for fans.

I get it your trying to counteract PR's constant insulting of Sydney crowds but in doing so you make far more illogical arguments than he does.

Edit: this is just an extension of the endless trolling that has plagued this thread. I doubt you believe any of the awful arguments you're making, it's just a pathetic attempt to have a dig at Perth Red and start yet another childish argument.

Well
I was comparing it to the sharks v Broncos
In shit weather with "0 away support"
Even with shit Weather the Sharks game had a bigger crowd than a couple of other Sydney games in a much better timeslot.

Storm and Broncos have it easy

They'd last two seconds with as much competition as Sydney teams.

I'm not sure why people lose their shit over crowds. If the NRL actually believed it was the most important part of the game they wouldn't have sold their soul to the devil.

Every game live!

f**k standing in the rain with kids whinging for food, the wallet getting hammered and the missus cheering on the other team!

People go when they want to go. Who cares, clearly the $$$ rule.

View attachment 11850 We need a couple of stadiums like this one in Sydney.

While you guys are arguing about last years grand final. I will get back on topic. This is what Sydney needs a all weather stadium.Venue for tonight's game in NZ. When you see it tonight on tv imagine it at Kogarah or shark park everyone goes home dry.. Perth red wouldn't complain about a empty stadium.

Like I said trolling essentially like every single one of your posts in this thread.

I don't think anybody loses their shit. It's a discussion forum and people are discussing crowds, some anyway.

Just because the NRL don't see something as important doesn't mean it isn't. The NRL and rugby league in general has been run like shit for decades. Bigger crowds mean more dollars for clubs and a better experience on tv.

More to the point why post in this thread if you don't care?

Oh and we won!

And it was a good thing for the game. Obviously as a storm fan I would have preferred to win but that's how sport is.

Now you guys can take that giant chip off your shoulders and stop shitting up threads like this one.

Trolling like everyone of my posts?

Mate I was replying to people bagging the sharks for getting 11.5k in the rain on a Thursday night.

It wasn't a bad crowd when you consider everything.
Weather
Timeslot
Opposition fans
Competition from other NRL games and other sports

I didn't say Melb had a shit crowd
I said it was average
Especially taking into account
Weather
Timeslot
Opposition fans
Competition from other NRL teams and other sports
With
They had no other competition from AFL or NRL all weekend

Put that game in Brisbane and you'd almost sell it out
Put cows v Melb in Townsville
The same
They also have sweet f**k all competition around them

funny
could have sworn this is a... crowds .. thread
what is confusing or hard to understand about people discussing crowds in a thread about crowds
why theyre good
not good
why & how they could be better

fans of some clubs need to be a whole lot less precious & defensive when people call their club out for having a poor turnout
BTW
the Storms effort last night was perfectly ok in my opinion

Great effort by Melbourne last night. I hate to say it but many Sydney clubs are becoming jealous of their increasing crowds and surging membership.

I think their cowds & memberships in general are only ok ... not anything to beat a chest about
considering how succesful a club they are
both could be better

That's why they hate Brisbane & QLD so much if they just had fewer teams around Sydney the remaining sides would actually start getting decent crowds.

It's rugby union through and through down there. It's about as fanatic there is fumble ball is in Victoriania. 10k is disappointing thought

So why move the game there in the first place?

They got about 16K to a trial against the Broncos a few years ago
