Nah some poor bastard will cop a knee-jerk send off after this
You just know it'll be either us, the Knights or JWH.

The last send off was us, and from memory that was a massive overreaction after a lenient decision a week or two prior

Just to witness the nuclear holocaust on the game day thread from you, I hope its a Canberra player for something innocuous.

Oh the lols to be had.

I thought that 5-6 weeks would be a fair stint on the sidelines. Anything less would be too soft.

They should have just charged him with a reckless grade 3 in the first place.

Pretty much.

I don't even know why they bother having 15 levels of high tackle grading - 1-5 of careless, reckless, and the absolutely pointless "intentional". Pretty much anything more than a than a careless grade 3 ends up being referred these days.

I can only think of 1 person charged with an intentional high tackle in the history of the NRL, and that was Travis Burns. Funnily enough they probably got that one wrong too (and ended Burns' NRL career in the process).

By the end of the day some compassion for Sia will overtake the indignity of the last couple of days . . . 5 will become too much

Did you see all the Canberra fans crying after the outcome at the judiciary', it was good as the clap..but in all seriousness would we have cared if the player wasn't Billy Slater?

2-3 weeks was fair. They added an extra couple weeks due to it being Slater.

I read this morning that Slater can't remember Origin 3 and Sia robbed him of that great memory. Oh no.

Wot? Haha most fans seem to think the 5 weeks was a perfectly reasonable suspension
This obsession with the clap is bizarre, and frankly unhealthy haha

5 Weeks is fair. I was concerned they'd throw something stupid like 8 at him given they referred it.

Could have easily dealt with it under an existing charge, deadset

Apparently who the tackle is on determines the severity of it, according to Dean Ritchie

It has been rated the most horrendous high tackle of the season, made worse by the fact Soliola collected one of rugby league’s highest-profile players

Yeah like others i dont understand why this was a direct referral and not just a Grade whatever careless/reckless.. what ever they felt it deserved

it's not like they didnt have a charge available to them that suited the crime. The entire process was ridiculous, but the outcome was pretty much spot on imo

Due to it being Slater !!! I agree, hate it when ex players in commentary carry on about protecting 'our stars' sorry, everyone is an equal and it should never matter who it is.

As for not remembering SOO, well after seeing the movie Concussion and reading today about the number of NFL players who had brain damage, the NRL should (but they have no balls) have a brain injury surgeon ask Slater if he recalls SOO 3, anything about last Friday, Saturday before the game, anything during the game, if the answer is no, he should not be allowed to train for 4 weeks minimum and play for 6 weeks minimum. That type (except SOO) of questioning and down time should apply to any player.

F**k all to do with Slater, they added extra time because Sia wasn't sent off and low men on the totem pole had to pay . . . a send off and 3 weeks would have suited the crime
