Souths and dogs sell their memberships better then any other Sydney clubs. However you can still take souths numbers with a grain of salt. They claim those numbers but then get 9k to a home game against another Sydney club.

For instance if you buy a certain ticket online for their Perth/cairns home game you are counted as a member, this is a fact.

It's A shame we don't get a better picture of full ticket v casual memberships. They are all good for clubs to have but obviously full ticketed are the gold standard and what translate to crowds.

Yep. Whilst it's great to have so many 'members' it doesn't paint the whole picture. Clubs love announcing big member numbers as it increases sponsorship potential and money they can make from mailing lists etc. I mean the Tigers had better crowds then souths last year despite having roughly a third of the apparent members.

If souths member numbers were real wouldn't they be getting 40k+ to home games? There's away supporters and a huge amount of casual fans going to every game.

So if it's a fact which ticket is it? I've never seen an upswing in members in the weeks before those games.
I'm not saying your wrong but if it's a fact it needs a citation.

That'd be the supporter membership with a game added to it for Perth/Cairns.

Nothing wrong with that.

It's ok Vic I know deep down you're jealous of The Pride of the League.

We very very rarely get 9k to a home match.

Considering Souths rarely get home matches other than Friday Nights I'm proud of the turnouts.

Also we have lots of members interstate and internationally. We have a fair following in NZ too.

Every membership counts.

I just wish more would get supporter memberships in general for all clubs. Committing to your club is important.

You are only counted as a member if you buy a membership. There is a W.A. membership which includes entry into the Perth home game and 2 ANZ Stadium home games, and there is a QLD membership that includes 2 games of choice in QLD and 1 home game at ANZ Stadium.

Yeah here we go again.

The widespread love and support that souffs allegedly have outside of Sydney is getting its yearly mention when crowd to membership ratio gets brought up.

I've said on many occasions that souths are the leaders (in Sydney anyway) when it comes to membership drives. I also believe their match day experience is the best in Sydney.

However isn't it puzzling to you how you can have 30k+ members yet average 14k to home matches. When you consider other teams fans in those numbers it's probably more like 10k souths fans at home games.

Also Friday nights are the highest drawing time slot for crowds so I'm not sure why you're using that as an excuse for poor crowds.

I've been vocally critical of Souths' membership figures v crowds but it's been pretty well explained they're just better than most clubs at converting non-ticketed and minimum-ticket members into sales.

They're certainly not the only club that sells 1-game memberships either.

Well it's true.

Had to be said.

Souths are very well known worldwide thanks to Rusty playing a big part.

We got rated the 3rd best match day experience for sport in Australia I think it was.

Not puzzling at all. Like I said, have members in Perth, Cairns, NZ with great followings. Plus in general QLD too.

Plus international members too.

You will find at away matches Souths have a strong following.

Friday Nights aren't family friendly. Ask Carcharias, he knows.

Not true re the interstate games. Souths do a WA membership which includes the game at nib but you don't become a member just because you buy a ticket to the game. Manly are doing a WA membership as well now.

Have to say I was very impressed with game day activities, especially being given free tickets at tne gate lol, when I've been to Souths games in Sydney, just shame the stadium lets it down and kills any hope of an atmosphere. They do try hard to make it enjoyable but being in a 85k stadium with 15k people kills the experience. Hopefully they may also use the new western Sydney stadium in the future.
