I really will never understand the hate for Pearce. Dugan was actually quite poor apart from a good tackle and a couple of decent runs but we're focused on Pearce.

The Pearce bashing is a Yawnfest.

He was ok...not great but he was all that we needed. For one of the first times in his SOO career he had a forward pack that dominated the game.

There was also no Farah or Gallen interference and we won by miles!

Any other half opinion couldn't have played any better but they could have played much worse.

For the record...after 15 origins Pearce won 4....Lockyer won 5.

Perfect summary. I'm not his biggest fan but the unwarranted criticism is just ridiculous. He has been terrible in previous origins but was ok tonight. Enough said. Well done NSW. Couldn't split Fifita and Tedesco amazing. How good was gagai for QLD?

Really? the plan was to shut down the Oates juggernaut?

It would have been an OK tactic during an arm wrestle. But we need a half who could take the bull by the horns at that time. We were right on top but let it slip.
You are a dead set idiot.

1998- lockyer 2 wins 1 loss, won series

1999 lockyer 1 draw. Retained shield

2000 lockyer 3 losses

2001 2 wins, winning captain, mom game 3, player of the series

2002 1 win, 1 loss, 1 draw

2003 2 losses 1 win.

At a similar stage lockyer had only lost 2 series, he had captained a series win, been man of the match and player of a series and had generally been the best performer in the losing teams. He was also a regular Australian player. To compare Pearce to lockyer at the same stage is laughable

Old mate thought he was clever regurgitating a Paul Kent quote off NRL 360.

Yeah, Pearce = Lockyer.

DERP!!!

I cannot believe for the life of me that people are seriously comparing Mitchell Pearce to Darren Lockyer, Lockyer was still a fullback up until 2004

How many bombs did he put up for Oates to take uncontested?
It was genius and obviously a planned tactic:
1) Oates was pinned time after time not far out from his own line.
2) NSW worked out in advance that Gagai is much more dangerous with a little bit of space than Oates.
NSW were creative enough with the ball in this game so they didn't have to resort to repeat sets.

Peats only 6.5......what bullsh*t

They seem to have revised them since this post - Peats is on 8 now. nrl.com gave him 9.

A roosters fan struggling to understand the hate for Pearce. Okay.

That was Pearce's best game but I don't think that's saying much. Any game where he doesn't actively contribute to QLD will do. All that is required of him really is to pass to the players with talent on the team and not f**k up, which he did an okay job of tonight. Two dud kicks (yes two not one, if you can call one a kick) but some decent passes. 5/10. If he puts in 5/10s each game our more talented players will win games for us.

Pearce is no Lockyer but tonight he made a significant contribution to a big win while the Queensland champion was gibbering on the sideline.
