Is it a charge down though? Possible if it just hit his leg, but then to hit his arm and then hand to go forward. Where does the charge down end? It's a knock on.

exactly

the intial contact on his arm maybe but then he moved his hand and knocked it on

Unless you're tackling a player and the ball hits your arm
That is because the defender swings the arm around deliberately trying to knock the ball down. That is playing at it. When they don't deliberately knock it down but swing the arms around, it is classed as a knock on as well because there were too many grey areas. That kick into Roberts was obvious he didn't play at it. You could nearly argue that it was a charge down if he did play at it!

Wasn't ruled as a charged down. Was just listing that as a situation where for whatever reason it is OK to knock the ball forward with your hands.

Inglis in Origin is the other case where it is OK

I was just answering your question whether it was a charge down or not?

It wasn't a charge down. He was trying to get out of the way and it's bounced up into his arm and went forward. He was making no attempt to charge down.

So if it's not a charge down, or it's not the same rule as a defender knocking it on attempting to tackle, then what is it? Or are we just making up rules on the go tonight.

That Sims tackle was no different to Papalii's last night.

Guess it depends what colour your jersey is.
