Looks like we are talking about different codes.
The Seppos don't know the difference - they think the two are the same game.
FWIW I think we should be consolidating the game (league) in areas and countries with a definite RL culture - not an artificial manufactured one.

Is this a serious question? If you want to grow the game internationally you need these teams to compete on the international stage with the 3 tier one nations.

Places like Fiji have a union culture but RL is amateur hour. You need to invest in systems, processes, grass roots etc to bring the standards in these places into the professional arena. Ffs get a PNG team in the nrl and Fiji in NSW Cup to start.

Get the game going in places like Japan, Singapore and China. All places with a growing rugby culture, plenty of $$ and strong grassroots potential already there with yawnion.

Why throw money at a US pipe dream when we are letting countries with a pedigree and culture for the game are left languishing to fend for themselves and continually have their players poached by tier one nations.

You have a much better chance of making these countries internationally competitive than the f**king US....

either way will work. 326million can provide a f**kload of players. But nah i guess your right, lets put absolutely nothing into the americas and europe, but lets stick our money to countries that already play the sport and are good at it. Wales, PNG and France should be the top 3 cause they have the best domestic leagues, ireland are even moving up, but thats another thread for another time.

f**k there's some stupid comments in this thread.

Good on the USA for giving it a crack with local players, they sound like they want to build something from this. They were obviously never gonna win but some things are more important than winning.

As for where should the sport invest in, the answer is everywhere and anywhere willing to give the game a go. These shouldn't devolve into stupid arguments about who is more worthy. The needs of the sport in Samoa and Tonga are completely different to Asia or Africa or the UK or North America.

But generally speaking, we have to look wider than just the Pacific. That's the kind of inwards looking thinking that has held the game back for 100 years. It would be great if Tonga could compete with the big 3 more often, it would be excellent if Samoa had a clear pathway from the parks of Apia to the NRL. We should invest in these nations but not exclusively while ignoring the wider world. Countries with the population of a mid-sized Sydney suburb don't make the world take notice of the sport.
