Cowboys would probably argue the toss there

Yeah they'd be the other team that'd cop it. Stil not as bad though as they don't have to deal with customs and time differences. Townsville, Canberra and Newcastle are the bastard trips for our guys as there's no direct connection to Aucklsnd so the have to fly then do a long bus trip or second flight.

big hit!

Change I'd prefer.

Friday - 7:30pm
Saturday - 2:00pm, 4:00pm, 6:00pm, 8:00pm
Sunday - 2:00pm, 4:00pm, 6:30pm

If 9 or Fox want a Thursday or Monday game (not both), they can stump up the cash for 2 extra teams based where we determine.

yeah f**k off the thursday night match or if anything just have them on earlier in the season while it's warmer.

saturday is really strung out too. if games are being played over three days, really can't help but have a couple of matches overlapping. needs more day games. more than half of those end in darkness in winter.

The aversion to having overlapping matches is really strange. Aside from a handful of diehard tragics I can't imagine there are too many out there who want to watch all eight games every week. Seriously doubt having two games broadcast at once (presumable one on Fox, one FTA) would have any impact on ratings.

Overlapping is a concern for TV ratings.
When the NRL had 2 Friday night games I would always just watch the first match. Now they have the Thursday night game I watch both nearly every week unless I have some commitment on.
The best way IMO for the scheduling is
Thursday 7:15 kick off FTA/Fox
Friday 7:45 FTA/Fox
Saturday 3:30 fox 5:30 fox 7:30 FTA/fox
Sunday 2:00 fox 4:00 FTA/fox 6:00 Fox
4 day games 4 night games 4 FTA
4Fox exclusive
I relize this will never happen but I can dream can't I.

No offence, but that's called being an alcoholic. If you can't go to a game to watch your favourite team play without having a few drinks (especially on a Sunday night ???) then I think it's more on you not the NRL.

Fair enough Friday night or Saturday, but we are thinking about the bigger picture. Sunday 6 or 6:30pm works perfectly fine and is family friendly.

You're right there - I'm just stating my preference

For the vast majority, Sunday evenings are often the end of the weekend and most people can't be arsed after a long day slogging out to a football ground and then getting home by 9 or 10pm when the game cut right through dinner time

It's not that family friendly and you can't make a night of it with the boys either. It's just a shit time

Family friendly times are daytime games where you get home in time for dinner

This idea that every f**king game has to be shown live on Fox Sports so you can't have games on simultaneously is just shit. There is nothing wrong with having two games on a Friday evening at 7.30pm now that Fox Sports are involved either.

Show the opposite game to 9 at 7.30pm and then run the other 7.30 game in real time, not strung out with a million shit merkin ads and you have a great solution to choosing shit times like a bloody Thursday or 6.30pm on flipping Sunday.

FOX showing two games simultaneous/overlapping isn't an issue, they already do it with AFL.

The only time it might be a problem is during the March-April period where the A-League, AFL and NRL are all on and the amount of programming space is limited.

The issue with scheduling is

Do you want fans at the match or on the couch

TV execs seem to want them on the couch

This of course impacts membership, the gate and merchandise

What about the 1000's of league fans who love 100's of kilometres away from the nearest footy match. Do we just miss out. I agree there has to be a even balance.

Doesn't make a difference to those fans who can't get to the game, all games will still be live and on tv, just not at times that stops fans who want to go to games getting to them.

Maybe pay fans to turn up

Lets setup a new company - rent a crowd
