No crowded market. Just people like yourself giving ground to other codes by diluting top flight rugby league in 3 regions. Do the maths and you might get it. But then again?

Agreed it is not a crowded market we just haven't bothered engaging the city properly by trying to get asians, women, kids interested or at least only trying in a typical half arsed way.

That would be ideal but it's not going to happen. The NSW government have just been through the stadiums policy and they made it clear that suburban grounds aren't in their plans. It is a refurbished ANZ, a rebuilt Allianz and a rebuilt Parra - that's it.

Given the choices, surely Allianz has to become the only option to secure Manly's future and allow for them to grow.

Nope. Manly fans will not trek across. Nor would I. The drum beats should be aimed at a 30000 seat stadium in northern Sydney. That's the answer. Ideally if the Bears were back in some form and Manly , this stadium would be well tenanted. Even other codes could feature at such a stadium? That's the issue in northern Sydney. Pretty sure the arch rivals won't mind sharing if that's what's required and rugby league would once again prosper and grow.

I don't think Manly fans will make the trek as far as North Sydney.
Better off shift the Sea Eagles to Gosford (play one or two games at Brookvale e.g. Sea Eagles v Bears) and bringing a new Sydney team in (the Sydney Bears) who represent Sydney and the North and play out of Alliance.
You piss some Manly RL fans off but they still have a Sea Eagles team to watch on TV and it isn't like they are going to suddenly be going to Swans games because as we already know they don't want to trek across from Manly to Moore Park.

Understand what you are stating. However locality is a big thing in someone deciding to attend a game. I think Northern Sydney and the Central Coast with a population of well over 1.3 million can accomodate two top flight rugby league clubs. Just got to be smart about it. Souths Sydney and the Roosters should be playing out of the SFS.

We won't be moving and we aren't in danger as long as the Penn family runs the joint. Despite our apparent poor position we can still apparently rort the cap!

Of course, once they are gone, who knows? People seem to really dislike them and crowds have dropped off since they took charge. It becomes a question of damage done at that stage.

I think if you brought the Sydney Bears in and played them out of Alliance it would draw in the old NS Bears fans plus be a brand you could grow in wider Sydney.
Kids love Bears, they dont care much for Sea Eagles or Roosters.

Absolutely! It's rumored most seats are sold so here's hoping for a 20000plus crowd.

I went to a Dragons v Souffs game at win stadium probably about 5 years ago, last time I seen it somewhat full. Think it had around 19,100 people there with a few seats still available on the grandstand

I think 20k+ is easily achievable

Where is alliance in relation to Sydney?

We currently have this hybrid of a competition with a mix of small suburban teams playing out of inadequate facilities and large city appeal clubs playing out of modern stadium. At the moment the nrl is able to artificially manage the comp with salary caps and grants to keep these small clubs relevant but you do wonder how these clubs would fair in an open market or even in years to come once you get the likes of Perth, Brisbane 2&3 etc in the comp and the majority of clubs are big city clubs in and out of Sydney. Manly are very much stuck between a rock and a hard place and better hope their rich owner lives forever!

Central/East. 30 minutes walk East of the CBD.
Old NS Bears fans would make the effort to go as it is easier to get to from NS than it is from Manly. Plus you would market it as a new club to young hip Sydney folk (gays, hipsters whatever).

Totally over your head lol.

Do you mean Allianz?

I think you’re delusional if you think a brand new 30,000 seat stadium in north Sydney is going to happen. Unless somehow it’s funded by clubs themselves. I agree partly with boon we got a great stadium in Gosford. Perhaps manly can make that a home. Playing the occasional game at brookie as the dogs do for belmore. And if the fans get up in arms about lack of games then I say go to the bloody games. You have a decent side, with household names, a great home record and quite the successful team

All the Sydney teams are within 50km. My plan gets one out of Sydney and replaces it with a team that can play out of a great stadium and draw a crowd.

out of Sydney ?
barely
we don't need 10 sides within the catchment when 9 is too many now dopey
