Just as a matter of point, we continually have people moving up to Newcastle because of the traffic issues in Sydney.

Sheeez the drive from Sydney to Newcastle or back does my head in, I hate the M1 especially the section between Gosford and Newcastle, you sit on a 110km and trucks go hurling past you. Wonder if the road works between Doyalson and Tuggerah will improve the trip when its completed or just give you 3 lanes of craziness instead of 2.

Nope. Manly fans will not trek across. Nor would I. The drum beats should be aimed at a 30000 seat stadium in northern Sydney. That's the answer. Ideally if the Bears were back in some form and Manly , this stadium would be well tenanted. Even other codes could feature at such a stadium? That's the issue in northern Sydney. Pretty sure the arch rivals won't mind sharing if that's what's required and rugby league would once again prosper and grow.

But if we come back to reality: The Bears aren't in the NRL and Brookevale isn't getting renovated - so other than Allianz what would you do?

Pretty poor crowd for the broncos and I'm not quite sure why. Down on last year despite being in form and being a local derby.

Hoping today's game will top 35K, would be a good way to finish the week.

The Titans matchup isn't really a draw for Broncos fans - the crowd seems about right. It would only push into the 40's if the Titans were at the top of the table and brought an extra 10k up the highway.

I thought it would be 40000! Local Darby and long weekend. Holiday on Monday . Good weather as well. My gut feel is our marketing and exhorbitant ticket prices are the cause for this. That's a theme I'm getting on the NRL marketing people.

People up here just don't give a shit about the titans - they are not a draw. The Titans are not really accepted as a QLD team like the Cowboys are yet. They will have to do some work to change that perception.

I find it funny when blokes from joints with about 2 traffic lights bag out Sydney crowds.

Canberra
Perth

Ha
Bush towns

You blokes have absolutely no clue as to how hard it is to get anywhere in Sydney.
The traffic is so bad it turns people completely off trying to get to a game....especially in town or out at Homebush.
To force teams from nowhere near there to play there is idiotic.

What
You think I've never encountered Sydney traffic ?
I've driven up & around there plenty

If you're motivated
You'll go
Hell even a 6 hour round car trip doesn't discourage a lot of Canberrans

Stick with Brookvale. Its locality is good. Needs an upgrade but if you ask the Manly fans , I'm sure they would stick with Brookvale too. That's what counts.

Encountering it and living in it everyday are two totally different things.

Drive around in it all day and get home in time to have a shower grab the kids and then do it all again.

35000 out of 5 million is not , getting out in droves
& anyway
theyre not sydneysiders
theyre transplanted Victorians

This is very true and an overlooked fact when you count Swans fans. Yes, of course there are some NSWelshmen at Swans games but what you will find in the majority is a core group of expat AFL fans that need to get their fix. Some have adopted the Swans as their team but many are there just two watch AFL or watch the away team. The TV ratings back this point up because despite being the highest attended sporting team in the city, they are the lowest viewed NRL / AFL team on TV in the city (except their AFL cousins GWS).

It is basically the Broncos effect, gather supporters of a code in a city and funnell them into one team as either supporters or to watch the away team. The only difference of course being a RL town, the Broncs get great TV ratings also.

It is one of the worst grounds going around and is not sustainable moving forward. How are Manly supposed to continue growing and attracting corporate support?

I think based on your comments that you would be happy to return to a pre-1988 NSWRL - if the NRL lived in the past like you do then AFL and even the struggling RU and A-League would swamp us.

Haha
Get ya hand off it.
Warrinhgah doesn’t even have a train station FFS.
I went from Sutherland to Taronga zoo on a Thursday arvo about 3 weeks ago
It took 2 f**king hours in gridlocked traffic all the way up until the turn off on Military road
Imagine if I was going to brookvale?
Add another 30 mins at least on before I’d get into the actual ground.

San souci is about 40 mins in shithouse traffic on a Thursday or Friday night from the shire.
So I don’t know why the f**k you are using that complete shithole in your argument.

How many rugby league games did you go to in peak hour traffic in Perth?

Zero

Oh wow poor baby, two hours in gridlocked traffic? I work in Butler and live in Peel. That's 90km up and another 90km down the freeway each day. The closest train station is 30 minutes away, the absence of regular league games doesn't equate to an absence of events and traffic.

As to the inclusion of Sans Souci and Seddon (which you obviously missed, lending creedence to PRs suggestion you've never been outside Sydney), the point that went over your head is that proximity to the venue plays little to no factor in my ease of travel. The fact is that only one city in the entire country uses excuses like "I had to take the most difficult route because I was bringing an eski". Face facts, a large number of Sydney residents are just too lazy when every other city's chief sports teams are pulling bumper crowds.

Blaming traffic and weather is a joke, don't like the traffic uber to the nearest train station and go that way, then uber from the station to the stadium. It isn't hard, unless you're using your mobility scooter.

Ok mr long haul

Like I said ...Bush towns

180km round trip everyday make you sound like an idiot.
Probably should have kept that one to yourself.

Firstly
The most difficult route would’ve clearly been public transport carrying all that shit.
You and dopey PR wouldn’t have a clue.
He says 40 mins on a train and 20 on a ferry.
Yet he failed to mention all the other time wasted getting to and from this magical carpet ride we call public transport.

Or do you think we just step out the front door into an empty express train and then straight onto a departing ferry?

As a taxi driver said to me on the way to Sydney airport at 10.30am ,peak hour is just about all day in Sydney. The rat runners and that includes me who avoid tollways like diarrhea, don't help the situation with the choked roads.

Of course it is.
The only halfwits denying it don’t even live in Sydney .

We know what it’s like.
It’s hard enough getting around the shire in peak hour.
I do it and can handle it but getting to places that can take up to 2 hours to get to make it impossible to see the footy.
6 pm Friday game is laughable.
