We did this during the 2018 World Cup. Most of the top and ends of the lower Eastern Stand (Andrew Johns stand) are selling in 'double row' format. So, half of the available tickets are actually on sale.

This isn't an attempt to downplay what will likely be a 20,000 crowd for Round One, but we really are far away from an unlikely sell out.

Good informative update . Thought 35000 was being too ambitious or promising. But geez if that was the case then things would very positive . Alas reality hits! Lol

I don't think the NRL should stick with the timeslot but I'll admit I don't mind it. The games don't finish so absurdly late and there is plenty of time to go out for a drink and a chat after the game.

Hoping there will be 25K+ there for the match, what an awesome start to the season that would be.

How in gods name are working parents expected to get home, pick up their kids, & get to a venue for kickoff in less then an hour

It's got spiders on it for most people
It's a disgrace.

The only time we should do this time slot during the week, is on a public holiday

You idiot! I attended Aust v NZ test match and the attendance was over 33300 for Lockyers last test. That's the biggest crowd there under the new configuration and their was ample room left over. Still not full! Geez your dumb! And ignorant!

Wouldn't be too hard for TV to push both games 30mins? on a Friday. At least the early game could be heavily promoted as the family game of the round with major offers and incentives to get the whole family rocking up. No reason a family couldn't be at the game at 6:30pm

Fox 6:30 Ch9 8:15pm KO would work better maybe?

Newcastle spots like the stadium are basically 20minutes drive from most places in the area. Its a better venue and town for this timeslot due to geograghy and easier travelling routes. Unlike Sydney!

It was getting full but not full. I was in the corner stand on the western/southern side. And their was absolutely vacant seats in our section and the opposite corner on the western/northern side had more vacant areas. But I agree thats been their biggest crowd to date. Definitely not full though!
