It's why I admire the Newcastle RL culture and support. Despite everything the Knights go through they are still their heroes and everybody turns out in droves every week.

Would be great to see them challenging, the support would be even more amazing. Well done Knights fans on sticking true through the hard times. Will make the good times even sweeter!

I get that the 6pm time slot is for TV but I assumed that clubs like Newcastle, Canberra, Townsville, Woollongong and Auckland would be getting most of these matches because they are either smaller cities where it is easier to get around or in Auckland's case it is 8pm local time in winter.

I tried getting to a Monday 6pm game in Townsville during the early part of the season due to daylight savings and it was f**king horrendous, even with a only 11-13k in attendance. When everyone knocks off work at the same time and tries to get to the stadium in their car due to the lack of decent public
Transport being a regional town, then you can imagine the f**k around. They had to delay kick off to allow people to get in.

Seriously? A Monday night game! Friday 6pm is far different from Monday 6pm. Many people knock off early on a Friday. It's far better than a Monday or Thursday for that matter. It's the start of the real weekend! I know I'm thinking of taking my daughter along a mate and his daughters due to the Friday 6pm timeslot instead of a 7.30pm timeslot.

Not everyone knocks off early on a Friday FFS. And if it was so f**king good, why aren’t the crowd numbers reflecting it??

Well you are about to see a very good one champ! ?

Really?

The first game for the season of a team based in an absolute rugby league heartland that has sucked more ass than a pornstar for the last 4 years, which has just got a heap of stars in its ranks in the offseason against a team that is arguably its biggest historical rival??

Yeah, it’s the timeslot that’s bringing ‘em in for this one for sure......

Dickhead.

You dropkick! Here you arguing against 6pm yet when the crowd does show in this "impossible" timeslot you refer to other factors. The start of the weekend is better than a Thursday or Monday anytime. And I would suggest that Auckland or NZ games should be used as much as possible due to time differences. If used in the right areas 6pm Friday will work. Guarantee you will not see most Thursday night crowds outdraw Friday 6pm. Round 1 will show you that. You dropkick!

It'll beat the bludger of a game at Belmore in the rain that was Rd1 Friday 6pm last season! A hardy 8,700 turned out to that.

But it's what we're stuck with so do we really need to debate it ad nauseum, saying the same things on repeat for another season?
Of course we're stuck with it for the next 5 years
But the NRL needs to be left in no doubt, we hate it & we want it gone from the next deal !!
Thursdays too
F them off
And we don't want any other stupid f**king weekday time slots to replace them either

You idiot! I attended Aust v NZ test match and the attendance was over 33300 for Lockyers last test. That's the biggest crowd there under the new configuration and their was ample room left over. Still not full! Geez your dumb! And ignorant!
Hahahaha
Ample room??
They were standing on top of each other you simpleton

And the crowd was 32,890
Talk your shit somewhere else dummy

They were not standing on top of eachother. There was plenty of seats vacant in the areas I've pointed out. I agree with you on one point. That is Thursday games should not occur . The rest you have stated is false and clearly wrong . Its a 35000 capacity stadium in Newcastle with plans to go to 40000. Simple as that. I was there when 33000 were there and their was plenty of room especially on the western side. And I've noted you have conceded your "rock solid 32500" capacity figure to be wrong! ? You are a piece of work aren't you!?

Rubbish
The capacity is around 32500
The test crowd was full as a Goog
Stop posting utter crap

And what plans to go to 40k?
Other then the failed world cup soccer bid
I've never seen or heard any plans for an increase in the present 32500 capacity of the ground

Links please??

For a start. You have conceded to a figure over the 32500 you assert! I was at the ground and another few thousand could have fitted in. We were on the western south corner and it was very roomy with plenty of vacant seats around us and on the opposite western corner. That is not jam packed! A few times chief Harrigan has mentioned the 35000 capacity and plans to go to 40000. When I purchase my tickets for the Friday 6pm March 9th game I will quiz the Knights shop staff which is at the ground. I'm sure they will refer me to more accurate information for someone like you.
