Like sure, could have been more but whatever. Have you seen the state of New Zealand Rugby League in the past 12 months? It’s the optics and image of a sold out stadium for a game of rugby league in a Union dominated nation.

I think we all know union owns NZ

But where would warriors sit on the NZ list ?

1. All blacks
2. Crusaders
3. Blues
4. Warriors ?
5. Chiefs
6. Etc

I'd suggest when the Warriors are winning they climb up to at least 2nd on that list.
No one will take the number one spot off the all blacks, they're like the national football team in Argentina where they're "followed" by people that have no interest in the sport at any other level or lack any interest in sports at all

these double headers are good. Gets people interested and off the couch. We need to get people in the habit of getting to the ground. Lets have a heap more of them for example have one in Melbourne. Melbourne v Brisbane and Auckland v whoever. Have that one early in the season before AFL kicks off. Maybe have one in Newcastle. Dont have any in Sydney though because those fat bastards don't get off the couch for anything.

There's a sold out crowd watching the warriors beat one of the comp favourites to remain on top of the ladder. This is the best they've looked almost ever and it's in front of their biggest crowd at their home ground in like 2 decades.

The warriors are going to draw some massive crowds this year and it's fantastic for the code which has been ailing in NZ.

Obviously it's not ideal that a double header only draws 12K per game but the spectacle is a great result for league.

Things looked dire in the offseason on the back of the kiwis disastrous World Cup and the Warriors shitting the bed at the end of last season.

After the World Cup all the talk was about how league in NZ was on the brink of collapse. It's fantastic to see them performing like this and getting the crowds they deserve.

I think a lot of people are oblivious to the situation in NZ for league at the moment.

Exactly but we end up with more negativity. FMD how is a sellout cause for such pessimism :unamused:

Didn't state that? Although I've seen a grandfinal bound Warriors definitely capture the imagination of NZ in past seasons. So I'd suggest definitely second at least when winning.

I see what your saying. They're similar to the Blue Jays and raptors are in Canada, really capture the imagination when they're winning. It's great to see the Warriors doing well.

Can we also not forget that every expected the warriors to flop. If you played this double header at Eden park and they started the season 0-4 instead of 4-0 you would have been lucky to pull more than 20K in a 50K stadium. It would have looked awful and probably lost the club a lot of money.

It's easy now to say mt smart is too small when the warriors surprise everyone and are on fire.

I agree that the double headers are questionable but it's hard to complain about a packed mt smart.

We might be splitting the crowd figure in half for the stats books but there were at least 18k here watching the first game, and the full 25k for the second.

If this season keeps going the way it does it'll be a good year for crowds.

Does anyone give a shit about warriors on South island ?

Depends on were on the South Island doesn't it? Aren't there parts of the South Island (very small parts obviously) that are historically league playing areas?
