I did read your post and you have discounted the timeframe that suits attendance by young families. Their is sime give and take here. Granted the long journey fan travellers have an issue however the local young families have an attractive timeslot. Like I said see what sort of crowd turns up.

It’s not an attractive time slot if either parent actually has a job or their kid does after school activities lol.

If the NRL actually wanted an attractive time slot for young families they’d put them on Saturday or Sunday afternoon. This has absolutely nothing to do with families. It’s all about a TV slot.

It’s inconvenient for anyone living in Newcastle and impossible for anyone living out of it.

It’s just aids, no other way around it.

They’ll still get a decent crowd coz it’s the Knights and round 1 but that doesn’t mean it’s not a stupid idea.

Like I stated. Interesting to see what crowd lobs up? I know of plenty of young families going. Wait and see. Weather can impact as well. Many people have different circumstances . What maybe poison for some could be gold for others! Wait and see. And I sympathise with you somewhat as I'm a Rooster fan and will not attend games outside of a Saturday timeslot. I know what you're saying but their are fans with varying circumstance. Wait and see.

I have no doubt the Knights will still get a good crowd - all the grandstand seats are already sold out - but that doesn’t make it right. And who knows? What if it was a decent crowd but could have been sold out if Knights fans from out of Newcastle or Manly fans (it’s a myth they never travel) had have been able to attend like they usually did? With Wests taking over the Knights aren’t as poor off financially as they used to be but they still rely on gate takings significantly (hence high prices) - it’ll be really shit if they’re given too many of these time slots where a heap of fans can’t attend. They’ll probably lose their out of Newcastle season ticket holders too if there are too many games we can’t get to. We already can’t get to Monday night.

It’s a big deal because we were already given a lot of these last year. I can only imagine the NRL are under the view that this is fine because the only people that ever go to knights games are those living in Newcastle but that’s completely false. They’re really popular in Sydney too (either people growing up in newy before moving there or just others who support them for whatever reason) + central coast and mid north coast being they’re the closest team. None of those people will be able to attend. Sure, I’m sure there are a couple of families that might prefer a 6pm game to get the kids in bed a bit earlier but that % is extremely small compared to all the others unable to go to that stupid time slot + in my experience there’s still a heap of families at 7:30 games and with all the day games + 5:30 Saturday kick off there are enough family friendly ones already.

We differ in the families attendance. From my experience all if my mates that have kids prefer the earlier timeslot. Remembering schools are finished by 3pm and Friday is a more flexible day at many workplaces leading into a weekend. Out of all weekdays the Friday is the best day by a country mile! You mentioned Monday? Monday is a disastrous day to stage a game and so is Thursday. No doubt Friday 6pm timeslot is the better out all weekdays available. I do not agree with the pricing that the Knights are charging though their membership packages seem to be good value. ($15 a month for ten months ) . Weather permitting this 6pm timeslot will prove popular in Newcastle as the locals will attend and the ones further out will make plans to make it as well. Understand those further out like yourself will be left out, just like I am with Roosters games not played on Saturdays. It will attract a more family based demographic. 6pm is in daylight time and families will attend and make a fun time of it. The crowd will show this. I doubt the grandstands are sold out as they are using a one row in two policy for ticket allocation.( Someone mentioned this earlier ) I'm looking to attend with my daughter along with another mate and his daughters due to the 6pm timeslot. If it was 7.30pm we would not consider attending. Like I've stated "different horses for different courses."

We’ll have to agree to disagree. It is good it has worked out for you and your kids and be happy about that because trust me you’re in a very lucky minority. It certainly hasn’t worked out for me, my kids or pretty much any Knights supporters I know.

Fair enough. The crowd number will tell the story. Weather permitting I'm tipping a big crowd.

no
whats gold for a few
is poison for most

the time slot will have nothing to do with the crowd in Newy in round one
it'll be all about the new squad & new hope
if the knights trotted out with a side destined to be wooden spooners like they have for the last few seasons & played at 6pm on a Friday , they'd be lucky to crack 10K

Lol. So if a big crowd shows up that means it's still impossible despite the fans showing up?! Back to the luny bin for you champ!

people will suck it up for a one off season opener with prospects far brighter then they have been for a while against an old rival
zip to do with the time slot

If they can show up it's possible! Don't start twisting and deflecting . It's achievable if they show up. Its all relative. If a side is going good fans show up. If not they dont in big numbers . Mind you the crowd has not lobbed up yet so you may be right! We shall see. Weather is a factor!

There’s also the fact that it’s possible for people to get one Friday afternoon off work to allow them to get to the game but they can’t keep taking them off every time they play at that time.
