Why? It's called promotion. And we don't need warm Pommy beer or free Yorkshire pudding to do so.
They have opened it up for everyone to attend, the butcher, the baker, and the local town drunks.
Stop complaining.
Mind you apart from the ANZ games it's been so far so good and just wish we could get that every week....it's achievable.

The sections in the black box are all that is left at Suncorp. These should clear off today, restricted view are on sale too, 43-45k. Hopefully douche stadium members show up, will be holes there as corporates just waste them.

The contingent of NQ fans at the GC was huge. Not sure of exact % but it looked and felt well over 50/50 NQ fans.

Of course it's achievable.
Do something about reconfiguring ANZ ,for a start.
And squirt off Thursday night and Friday 6pm, games there.

Sorry to be pedantic. The difference in year 20 was minimal, in fact a year or two later did not the Storm have more.,yes I know for only a year or so.You cannot ignore the fact the Sth Melbourne members (remembering this is the phoenix of that club)gave the Swans ,a decent membership boost.

Of course they are killing it with crowds.Schedules that suit them to a T in the overwhelming majority of cases. How many at 6pm Friday. No wonder they don't play at that time.
An all seater up to the minute stadium, with facilities that make the SFS look like an outback pub.A media that gives them favourable coverage, whereas in the case of the NRL negativity is the byword.Close to many of their supporter base.

You'd be aware of the coverage the Storm gets in Melbourne, opr should I say lack of it,the Swans is the complete opposite, and has been since they arrived in Sydney with Barry Round & CO.

Interesting the Swan's fans hated going to ANZ stadium, yet that is more suited to them than rugby league. And people wonder why rl fans hate the current configuration.
And their biggest leg up a SL war and then a G/F in the 90s.

But their local TV ratings except for final series have remained static.Yes you can praise them for crowds, but they have everything laid at their feet by the AFL/media/SL/marketing spends/and far better facilities than any Sydney NR: club.
And further the Swans have had year after year of either being in the top 8 or close enough to it.Get down to the A*se end of the comp ,and the latte section of their fans will drop off in bucket loads.

The real test for any comparison is having a new SFS/a reconfigured ANZ and Parramatta stadium.
You forget AFL who have been here since 1982 have two new up to date stadiums as of now,teh rectangular codes certainly do not.

BTW I'm more than embarrassed with some of the NRL crowds in Sydney ,but if you have ordinary facilities, lousy scheduling much of the time and well supported teams like Parramatta and the Dogs down the end of the table,it sure don't help building crowds.

And yes I would like to have the crowds, income of the AFL and guess what, the facilities, they have extracted from Governments over decades.
Yes I am aware of all this. Were we not comparing Swans with Storm? I reckon they have both been really well managed. similar success on and off field.
If the contention of this post is that AFL in Sydney has been run much better than RL, well that is obvious and is the main reason that the Swans’ crowds trump every Sydney RL club.

My point was to spell out the basis for which the Swans are in a far better position.I'm also outlining the comparisons with the Swans and Sydney NRL clubs.
I am fully aware the Swans are well managed and are on the surface perform better than Sydney NRL clubs However it's made much easier, when you take into account the following:-

1)Better facilities ,code specific all seater stadium.
2) They received a huge financial benefit by the AFL taking them over when in trouble
3)The have had a field day with player pickups-Hall,Plugger,Franklin and the blonde boofhead in the early days with Edelsten.
4)The media coverage by not only a sympathetic and generally pro AFL media, who play down any incidents.EG Franklin and the cars.
5) The money AFL has outlaid in marketing ,promotion, and the promised free promotional activities by News Ltd as mentioned by Rupert Murdoch at the time of the last TV deal.Stick out like a nudist in George Street.
6) Overall better time slots for the club, than Sydney ones.No 6pm Friday for a starter.
7) Regular semis and G/F appearances and consistency of performances.
8) None of their fans experienced the rubbish that occurred in the SL war, which even divided families I understand.
9)Remembering it was South Sydney, that was flicked for some time from the NRL,wqho benefitted form that with a fan vacuum in their area?

The point to consider, how would the Swans performed management wise ,without many of these prevailing conditions? And how would NRL clubs have performed ,with many of those conditions prevailing ?

If Parramatta by some stroke of genius play to packed houses for the home games in 2019 in their purpose built stadium, and win a G/F ,then you perhaps can compare apples with apples.

The Swans at times have been bitten on the backside by a rainbow.Managed better yes, but I suggest any Sydney NRL club ,would kill for many of those advantages along the way.

A surf shop in the land of the warm beer ? I'd have to send out a search party to find a decent wave. And all I'd end up with ,is a Mexican wave at some sporting event.
Come to think of it ,I need a new rashie, and you being so generous Teddy. After all it is How's your father day here.
