Well if you want to be pedantic two are facts (crowds and memberships up), one is opinion(ratings were slightly down at last count) and two are very likely but not fact as we arent at end of financial year.

LOL being pedantic, just responding to deflection and continual negativity.Although the fact now you have admitted to two is stunning the rl world, that suggests we are off to a great start.
I suggest you read yesterday's Australian Back page.Which drew comparisons this year between the code rugby league and the other one, you genuflect to.The facts suggest the NRL is getting off its a*se and doing something, this despite having 2 less teams .You of course will find something to complain about in the commentary by a business journo.

Weirdly he could finally do the double now that the SCG Trust have scheduled the Chooks game after his Swannies finish up.

Thus ,he should be able to provide an in-depth account of the Roosters v Sharks semi, to all of us here. And at the same time provide a glowing account at a packed SCG.
So much ink he'll use, in so little time.

Bringing 3 new people to their first NRL game this weekend. Hoping the Roosters v Sharks crowd hits the 30k mark and is a good game.

You'd think with the final teams being as close as ever that the hype gets more people to the games .

Sharks got 16k vs Cowboys their last year. You’d think the chooks would bring 20k and change. I think it’ll get close to 40k

I'm backing it in for 25k. 30k+ is optimistic and 40k is pie in the sky stuff.

These teams met in one finals match - back in 2002 at Allianz, and it drew 25,366. That should be par, anything north of that is good IMO

Pulled these rough stats from the Crowd Stats & results thread in Game Day Spoilers.

The per event/per game is there to accommodate those who count double headers as one game or two. Not interested in that argument, both stats are there, take the one you prefer.

2018: 2,925,768 / Average: 15,563 (per event), 15,238 (per game)

2017: 2,865,152 / Average: 15,001

Any numbers for Penrith/Warriors yet? I’m thinking of going to the game, never been the ANZ before. Any suggestions on where to sit? Nearly the entire bottom bowl is General Admission - are they alright?

Anyone got a recent PAX for Roosters/Sharks? Got mine at 10AM yesterday so that is no help.

For me, this game is the wildcard in terms of crowds for the round. I think the others will are pretty easy to predict accurately but this one could get anywhere from 20k - 30k plus. Hopefully it is the latter.

Any chance of hitting the big 50
I don’t think so.
Mostly because of corporates. Friday would draw the biggest crowd for this fixture.
Another thing is, Suncorp won’t make the members elect if they will go or not for this game... so that’s privably 500-1000 people that won’t show. I think it will be 48kish. Sold out to single seats.

There are some really poor averages here and Sydney really failed to deliver. Cronulla probably delivered the worst number, equal 1st and only averaging 12,700, that's pathetic. The roosters and Penrith weren't a great deal better.

5 of the top 8 sides were from Sydney so form can't be blamed for the lacklustre crowds. Can't blame it all on ANZ either. Souths averaged the highest of any Sydney team easily whilst playing at ANZ. If anything it was the teams playing in suburban grounds that dragged us down. It's also a reminder of just how small some fan bases are of Sydney teams. If Souths, dogs, Parra, tigers and dragons are going well the crowds are huge. If the top 8 is represented by Penrith, manly, sharks and the roosters you can probably expect a pretty average year.

Let's just hope that WSS stadium can help turn things around.

There are some positives, like Newcastle. Seriously the NRL's strength in Newcastle and the hunter is one of our big advantages over all other codes in this country.

The warriors are also the sleeping giants of the NRL. Give them a few successful seasons and I could see them averaging 20K+ which few teams have done (all the whilst getting no away support).

QLD mostly delivered this year. The broncos as always carried the crowd average. The Titans despite having yet another shitful year still managed to out draw 4 other clubs including 3 Sydney ones. The cowboys were buoyed by Thurstons final year but still decent considering they battled for the spoon. With the new stadium coming things are looking great up north.

I'm thinking the next few years will see substantial increases in crowds due to new stadiums and increasing membership numbers. Hopefully some of the clubs dragging their feet can pick up their game a bit.

It's worth noting that, as I understand, the averages for Souths, Canterbury, Parramatta, Tigers, Dragons etc all include games played at smaller venues i.e. Tamworth Mudgee Cairns Belmore etc

The Dragons average was inflated by the Anzac Day game. Without that they are on par with Panthers and Bulldogs.

yes it looks like it.

50% of the clubs are below where they need to be (15k which isnt asking a lot surely), 6 of that 8 are Sydney clubs. Sht form plays a big part but geez there is a lot of ground to make up. Its hard to see things being much better than this current purple period for Sharks so god knows where they are going to get any growth from. You can see potential in Eels, Titans and Doggies but hard to see how Sharks, Panthers and Manly are going to improve (and that Manly avg is very much boosted by their away from home games, Brookvale was under 9k I believe)

Anyone else underwhelmed by the NRL's alleged reclaiming of scheduling rights they were supposed to get this year? There seemed to be a lot of potentially high drawing games still slotted into sht times.
