40k for souths v roosters
Actually 2003 was the start of a Rugby League dusting off the SL hangover until 2010 etcLess a crisis, more a malaise I would say. Crowds haven't statistically significantly changed in fifteen years, apart from a brief glorious moment in 09-12 when we broke the 16k ceiling, in most areas despite large population growth in RL catchment areas. But that's what happens when it isn't seen as strategically important to a sport.

Just an observation mateBecause we all know that everything the Daily Telegraph posts is factual and reliable
Trewhella such an icon in rooster land
And that lobby group largely failed to deliver. WSS - tick. SFS - big fail, paying 00s of millions to corporate mates for no great gain. SA - massive fail.Whatever was or wasn't in the strategy release, the simple fact is,the NRL considers new stadiums important (long term) for crowd growth.Else they wouldn't have had a lobby group brought in by your mate Smith(for which I give him credit).
In effect there was a long term plan, because that is what lobbyists do when they push for new infrastructure .
It's not just for the now, but for decades ahead. And part of the reason the NRL are trying to build up a decent cash reserve, just like your mob did with Carrara,ANZ to keep it oval.

Would ignore "bays exhausted" as an indicator, as they tend to fill from the front to the back, rather than bay by bay. The fact that you can only get tickets near corners and toward the back is a good sign. Can't find where I saw it but Storm/NRL are giving out $20 tickets for anyone named Billy/Bill/Will/William to tomorrows game (for Slater's last in Melbourne)
Does anyone have a more recent PAX? From looking at Ticketek these are the bays that are exhaustedView attachment 23576
they did the same thing for Smith's 300, anyone called Dick got in free! Can't find where I saw it but Storm/NRL are giving out $20 tickets for anyone named Billy/Bill/Will/William to tomorrows game (for Slater's last in Melbourne)

The AFL is the same (3 of 9 ending in daylight, sometimes less), and the A-League rarely has anyonly two of the 8 matches each week end in some sort of daylight. so not including expansion, there are two more matches the NRL can use as leverage for more rights money - probably move them to sunday & wednesday night.
unlike any other professional league in the world, the strategy is just TV. everywhere else, they try and grow both together.
Just like everything the Roosters facebook page claiming is factual when they claimed that they were 54% in front LOL
With the exception of a few Roosters home games there is always more Souths supporters at games between these 2 teams.
In fact a few years back when we had the old Roosters v Bulldogs rivalries Bulldogs supporters would always outnumber you 2-1 at YOUR HOME GAMES.
