Richmond v Colliwobbles sell out may force a spill over into AAMI Park.
Apparently going to open Etihad to accommodate it ..

Nah. Eeyore said it's fine.Another day another crowd crisis article by fox sports Australia. Add this to the excessive number of crisis articles about the dogs (still) and Souths, anybody who thinks there isn’t an agenda against rugby league in this country is kidding themselves.

Less a crisis, more a malaise I would say. Crowds haven't statistically significantly changed in fifteen years, apart from a brief glorious moment in 09-12 when we broke the 16k ceiling, in most areas despite large population growth in RL catchment areas. But that's what happens when it isn't seen as strategically important to a sport.
Exactly my thoughts Danish. My best mate a work is a massive Roosters fan, and the first thing we said to each other on the Monday morning after week one of the finals was thank Christ for that, we can't play each other in the GF now...The amount of relief I felt this year when you guys lost while we won in week 1 to put ourselves on the same side of the draw cannot be overstated.
I felt equally as good in 2014 when we lost to the panthers as well.
I know a Souths vs easts GF would be great in theory, but yeah that ain’t a toll my brain is willing to deal with
Huh!!!! That's why the NRL has lobbied with soccer to get better infrastructure (new stadiums) ,so they can in fact get bigger crowds.
Scheduling does impact crowds, but so does facilities or lack thereof.
We have had crap facilities for the Noughties, your mob have had new facilities in just about all areas(WA/SA/Vic/NSW/Qld.
Its that strategically important it wasn't mentioned in the games 18-22 strategy "highights" release, and failed miserably in the last strategy.
Whatever was or wasn't in the strategy release, the simple fact is,the NRL considers new stadiums important (long term) for crowd growth.
This guy, Tony Shepherd is pushing for ANZ to stay oval for future Giants development. Unless the AFL switch to a summer season, we will take up 99% of available timeslots.
I’m fully okay with this. I chucked a cheeky $10 on sharks and rabbitohs as the quinella at the beginning of the finals seriesStorm roosters GF would be a bit of an empty stadium
Storm won last year
Roosters don’t exactly fill joints up
Storm don’t travel
I’m thinking the refs are going to get the good guys from either side of the headland into the people’s grand final.
Packed to the rafters then.
Pretty much. If this game was going to sell out, it would have by now. With sales appearing to slow down, this further validates the NRLs decision to keep the game at Allianz...
What you say is true and our crowds should (and could) have grown with a more strategic approach. But no sports crowds in this country have grown in 15 years.Less a crisis, more a malaise I would say. I disagree. Older fans are bad with the internet, and buy them at the ground.Pretty much. If this game was going to sell out, it would have by now.
