I bought 5 in the Roosters ticketed section last night. PAX was 62,624.

My god they are expensive. Ring hasn't stop puckering since.

Lol and at 1.01pm yesterday it was saying only single seats in the Roosters section, still I got bay 114 where I sat for the 2002 Grand Final so happy about that. Could have got bay 118 in the Roosters section when I logged in today to have a look around and that’s where I was for the 2013 Grand Final so would have been happy with those also.

I don't understand why tickets in the supporter bays at each end are so expensive. Sure, excited supporters will likely pay almost anything (myself included) and it's great being in a section full of your team's fans. But sitting on the ends might be the worst vantage point you can be in - especially considering how shallow the lower bowl of ANZ Stadium is and how far away the stands are from the field.

There was a huge jump in price for these areas after 2012 I believe. The NRL figured these always sold out so they cashed in. Sad really, because you're right. Worst view, but you pay for the atmosphere I suppose.

I paid $65 for seats behind the posts halfway up in 2013. $165 in 2014. Both were mid-year prices.

Every year people panic the GF isn't sold out until a few days before, and every year it caps out 80k+ with last year's two out of town teams being the exception.

General pricing strategies for events would be aiming to sell out or close to the event, indicating pricing matches demand, which seems to be the case for grand finals of the recent past.

You just like to think that for such a premium event as a grand final, you could sell out a lot faster and build the buzz and eliminate crowd number talk at least a few days before the event is staged. No doubt having the storm in it diminishes the ticket sales frenzy versus other teams potential.

Hopefully when ANZ is reconfigured and capacity is lowered, along with better viewing options and hopefully higher memberships this will happen. Only members get to sign for the ballot...so even members miss out.
There are zero tickets for the general public.

Crazy thing is the NRL Grand Final is a far better event.

I've been to 3 GF's since 2011. Flown from NZ to attend. But I wouldn't cross the road to see this one. Could not care less who wins. There is no chance of this one selling out, as I am sure there are many people who say the same. I haven't missed watching a GF since the superleague year where I boycotted the game in protest. But I might take the missus out that night, such is my boredom at seeing two teams who have been there too many times in recent years.

Not quite true.

AFL has operated a ballot system for a long time (at least 10+ years). As I understand this year was one of the lowest rates of people missing out because so few registered - nobody expected Collingwood to make the Grand Final and obviously West Coast aren't bringing a huge number of fans.

For the NRL it largely depends on who's in contention when tickets get released mid-year, then who's actually in it as to how fast it sells. When it's two big clubs (e.g. Dogs-Souffs 2014) it sells out quickly, when it's two less popular clubs or out-of-towners, it struggles out of the blocks but eventually it gets over the line.

I'd be surprised if we had less than 80k.

Melbourne, well besides a small amount of fans who will travel up don't do well in Sydney either.

Then WHY aren't the tickets all sold out??? When we played you guys in 2014 you couldn't get a single seat 20 minutes after the tickets went on sale at 10am on that Monday in either supporter allocated aisles.

I can still buy 8 and it's Wednesday night.

No grand final should give out freebies and maybe ANZ should be 60000 seater then you would get paid sell outs for grand finals,SOO and even final series and also if the Wallabies were a force they could get the full house sign up as well.
