Would be interesting to see if growth in Memberships converts to crowd number growth or if the numbers merely point to being more an upfront revenue stream for the clubs.
Conversion rates of membership to crowds are better than the AFL but the volume of both is obviously where the gap lays. NRL has started from a fair way back in being membership sellers, so as the volume grows, the impact will hopefully be seen in other aligned areas.
With more investment in memberships and engaging supporters to be more committal, converting that into bums on seats should be assessed as it has a number of flow on effects for the clubs and the game. You would hope to get a conversion above 40% or maintain the current percentage and get that volume growing at a more aggressive rate.
Whilst being a fantastic way for clubs to be more self sufficient financially, memberships attention should go beyond taking supporter funds. Do you get them going to your games? Wonder how many clubs would fall above and below the median conversion rate...
