A thread on ratings, a great success for NRL this year. For the regular season there were about 80 messages many of which had nothing to do with ratings. AFL has some success with the finals and in 3 weeks there are 120 messages provoked by concern trolls.
Don’t get me wrong - i enjoy the work of concern trolls but it indicates a lot about the nature of FRF and the anxiety that the success of NRL has caused AFL obsessives

roosters v rabbitohs got 1.189m as per this: https://mediaweek.com.au/sports-wee...owards-move-to-fox-cricket-september-25-2018/

AFL beat NRL on Friday night and NRL beat AFL on Saturday night. Probably expected on both counts.

Interestingly, both codes still count 2005 as their biggest audiences, according to:
this: https://mediaweek.com.au/viewers-to-break-the-nrl-grand-final-record/
and this: https://mediaweek.com.au/afl-grand-final-ratings-record/

hard to know where this weekend will go.

as for this weekend, a lot of my mates who are neutrals have less interest than normal. but i would also think the afl is the same. many will be turned off by collingwood and who gives a shit about west coast? seriously would rather chew on glass.

At the moment the gf looks to be a blowout. Could affect viewing numbers for the remainder of the game.

Last year was a blow out and it still pulled more than the afl did yesterday. Having said that, FTA TV is down a lot this year, judging by origin ratings. It will depend on how many victorians kept watching. It will probably be somewhere around 3.3m

biggest fall was in Brisbane, no qld team, blowout game & school holidays coming a week later would impact ratings. But let's face it, the only thing that could have saved this GF was a close game and it failed spectacularly.

So can any sports warrior tell me what are the total numbers for NRL v AFL for the year then?

I'd include Origin and and Internationals for a code wide comparison but don't think there's a need to go in dry.

GFs are no means of real comparison. Melbourne religiously follows AFL, and irrespective of team playing they all watch. In the NRL, two team such as roosters & the storm polarise and a lot of ppl won’t watch or at least it’s less a priority. Put on two big Sydney teams and the Sydney viewing will be a lot higher.

really doing well at hiding that you're an AFL troll lol
it was an observation based on comparing ratings. If you don't want the NRL and AFL ratings compared in this thread why do you compare them, or comment on comparisons, when the figures show the NRL is ahead? Is this the only time comparisons are is allowed, when they look good for the NRL?
