It's been the talk around the traps for most of the season. Was almost not going to happen this season.

From what I understand, Shield will be consolidated back into A Grade comps.

Well in all honesty you need to keep shield to have Massey in my opinion, where are all the Massey players gonna go that don’t crack Massey that week , your telling me that there gonna go back and play A grade , I don’t think so.

I guess we’ll see, but “talk around the town” is just that. Nothing definite. There is too big a step up feom A grade to Massey.

I never said it was definite, you need to calm down and stop sniping whenever this is bought up. It's obviously just rumour, but it's certainly the understanding of many.

As for "there is too big a step up" I imagine the consolidation of Shield into A Grade, if it happens, would offset that.

Ha ha What are you smoking?
Like i said we’ll see what happens. Have you seen the crap standard of some of the A grade comps?

f**k it's like talking to a brick wall.

I've acknowledged as you suggest that it's still just talk - but where there's smoke there's usually fire.

As for "the crap standard of A Grade" - nobody's suggesting A Grade would stay exactly as it is. Also, you'd imagine the influx of Shield players to that comp would lift the standard, no?

You are presuming those young blokes currently playing SS will want to play A grade. Most of them will either stop playing or go to rugby union. So there’ll be no big influx as you suggest.

That sounds more anecdotal and flimsy that what I've reported as rumoured discussion.

There were alot saying SS would not be on this year.
But the rumours are stronger as are the msgs coming out of NSWRL, some people have seen a presentation about it from NSWRL.

But what I am hearing is it won't be a straight drop down to A Grade, it sounds like there will be a Premier A grade which will basically be the SS rebranded, the big difference being it won't follow RM

This is my understanding as well. Not the panic that some in here are thinking. Not everything is black and white

They should keep shield and add this premiers Competition too. What’s going to happen the clubs such as belrose , Moore bank and east Campbeltown if they aren’t going to have shield again. Clubs like that bring big crowds for the top grade to play on the day.

Ok interesting.
If its going to be run by the NSWRL and basically a rebranded SS, then why wouldn’t it be run alongside RMC?

I've heard that it will be a premier A-Grade competition

I know clubs who have Massey and Shield are really p****d off with the new arrangement as it will not be run by the NSWRL.

It becomes a logistical nightmare for teams who rely on the same staff for both grades.

This season has been very lucky with the cross over games

Wests home games are Saturday while East Campbelltown's are Sunday

Same as Mounties and Moorebank and Concord and Belrose so staffing issues have not arisen.

IMO I think they should keep Shield but with NSWRL taking on Flegg im sure they want to wipe their hands of a competition

What I saw before the Moorebank v Asquith game was appalling. It was a local A-grade match which saw a player sent off for spitting on an opponent which resulted in a brawl.

Then all hell broke loose after the final siren when a player KO'd an opposition player while shaking hands. The fight went for about 5 minutes. I have never seen anything like it before. This was the combined A-Grade competition that they want shield teams to go to. WOW

Perhaps the people thinking of this idea should spend a few weekends watching various A grade games.

I’ve been watching a couple of these Agrade games before and Massey or shield game and they are horrible. How do they want people to go down and play that rubbish ? The standard there compared to the two higher grades is laughable. There will be a lot of blokes walk from next year and go play union or another sport elsewhere because of this.

Unfortunately my experience is that is not a "recommended practice" that all teams should have their own staff. Saying that I agree it did work out well with those different but matched clubs playing on different days

It was East Hills Bulldogs v All Saints Toongabbie.
That was a crazy thing to watch. Delayed our game by a bit, police were called and all, I didn't see if anything happened after our game began though.
When I saw a spectator jump in, officials from both teams join in punching... I really hope both teams are removed from the comp for the rest of the year, there's no place for that in rugby league.
