Napa on the bench is interesting, we will see if he aims up.

Are we the first team ever to have our designated kicker as a starting prop?

This will be closer than many think.

Cronk however will prove his worth in a close one.

Would even 1 Tiger player make the Roosters top squad? I can't see any.

a few but not many

id take marsters over manu

matulino over takueahio

if aloiai was fit id take him over aubusson (i know easts fans suck his dick but he's an average first grader)

then probably benji/twal over riley/tetevano

Also if Nofo was in the side I’d probably take him over Fergo/Tupou. All have similar deficiencies but Nofo edges then out with his dummy half runs / offloads IMO

He also got the panthers to a prelim with Jamie Soward and Will Smith in the halves
A game they would have won if they'd had a bit of confidence in themselves. By the way, Soward was the main reason they got that far, and Will Smith, for all his faults, can make a line break.

Nope

Gavin Hill used to kick goals for the dogs, pretty sure he was a prop
Bill Hamilton for the Bears. Bill was the captain as well.

I suspect Bob Boland (a captain coach who won Penrith its first trophy) was a goal kicker as well, but would have been the back up to Bob Landers at Penrith. Probably back up to Keith Barnes at the Tigers prior to that.

Had a bit of a look through some stats in the Rugby League Project website and found Dane Sorensen and Daryl Brohman kicked goals as props in the late 70’s and early 80’s. No doubt there’s been others but it’s a rarity for sure.

I just hope J Taylor has been working overtime with SST and Mitchell otherwise it will come back to hurt us at some stage.

Sowards 2014 was by far his best season in first grade. Having heard him talk about it he credits Ivan Cleary for giving him the belief and freedom to play that well. For the past 2 years he had been in and out of first grade in NRL/ESL. I see a lot of similarities between the Soward arriving at Penrith and Reynolds coming to Wests. Both were much maligned ex NSW 5/8s who hadn't played their bets footy for a couple of years.

Obviously I'm not expecting to make a Prelim final but Cleary has done some pretty good things with ordinary squads before. He took a side with a halves pairing of Michael Witt and Grant Rovelli to a finals series FFS

Roosters by a country mile. Although the Tigers will be much better this season compared to last.

Big call Vic. 2009 especially Soward was electric.
