Anyways, on to the game at hand. Too much underestimating of the Tigers in this thread and overestimating of the roosters (at least for the first portion of the season).

In general I can see us having a slowish start, maybe 4/5 wins out of the first 8. It just takes time for new combinations to gel. The tigers also have new combinations but Cleary generally has his teams committed at least which will be something new for tigers fans when playing the roosters.

I think this will be hard fought with (hopefully) the roosters backline providing a touch too much class in the back end of each half.

Funny thing is roosters fans seem to think this game will be closer then Tigers fans do

Nikorima wasn't bought as a reserve grader, he was bought to be a bench utility and start if Pearce/Hastings were not fit but the acquisition failed miserably (as did everything else in 2016).

Ivan Cleary has made the first big selection call of the new season, dropping superstar winger David Nofoaluma to reserve grade for the round one clash against the Roosters.

Nofoaluma was one of the Tigers’ best last season, resulting in him signing a new four-year contract extension with the club. However, Cleary has made it clear that reputations count for nothing and has instead opted for the unheralded Corey Thompson and Malakai Watene-Zelezniak as his wingers.
