There is no space for a mid season test anymore for Australia which means it looks like they’ll only be playing two tests again next year against Tonga and New Zealand.
Yes, it’s something but it all looks like a cop out to me and big much different from the last time they announced a schedule.
- Great Britain touring while home nations are playing is ludicrous.
- no mention of euro nations schedule, just two Oceania cups in successive years.
- I like 9’s World Cup once every four years.
- if there is only room for 1 tour every 4 years, does that mean Australia & New Zealand will always play England in England once every 8 years? And the Great Britain tour during a Oceania cup once every 4 years? Very confused!

My bash at what the 2019 calendar is looking like...

June Test Window
Oceania Cup Rd1 - NZ v Tonga
Oceania Cup Rd1 - Fiji v PNG
Friendly - Samoa v England...England need a game and one of the bottom tri series teams will be available

Post season Week 1
World Nines

Post season Week 2
Oceania Cup Rd2 - NZ v Australia
Oceania Cup Rd2 - Samoa v Fiji
Lions - GB v PNG

Post Season Week 3
Oceania Cup Rd3 - Tonga v Aus
Oceanis Cup Rd3 - PNG v Samoa
Lions - GB v Fiji

Post Season Week 4
Lions - Midwek GB v Tonga
Lions - GB v NZ 1st Test

Post Season Week 5
Lions - Midweek GB v Samoa
Lions - GB v NZ 1st Test

...only two (maybe 3) real guaranteed money spinners in that. Logistically will be a nightmare as well. NZRL need to up their game considerably.

Big news for me out if this are

- the re-establishment of Oceania Cups every 2 years
- Kangaroo tour 2020
- mid season Lions tour

But the big one
- establishing a MEA Championship

Only items missing are
- the Asia Cup
- somewhere for the Cooks Niue Solomons Vanuatu etc to participate

It's dissapointing that France seems to be continuously ignored. We keep seeing grand plans for Tonga, Fiji and Oceania (which is fine) but the NH nees a 2nd Tier 1 nation. It would be so amazing to see a competitive France in a WC final. Was there a French delegate at the AGM? Did he speak? Does anyone think that RLIF has sort of thrown it's hands in the air in regard to France because they don't seem to be able to or want to get their act together?

Ralph Rimmer, CEO of the Rugby Football League, was pleased with the opportunities provided by the calendar: “These are exciting times for the sport in general and particularly the chance we have to both take a Great Britain team to the Southern Hemisphere next year and then welcome the Kangaroos in 2020. There is still some discussion to complete on 2019 but everything looks to be moving in a positive direction.

FOR f**k SAKE!!

Enough of this non committal crap.

France haven't been ignore...the reason why there seems to be a focus on the SH/Pacific is because they have/had nothing..

The European Cup has been played for in one version or another since 1935,the RLEF have done a reasonable job the last 15-18 years with governance and growing the game up here..and Nigel wood has been very clear about getting a similar set up in the pacific with the aprlc...so it's nice to see that from 2020 the European Cup & Oceania cup will run concurrently every two years..it give the sport structure and symmetry...that looks good

Wonder if there was any discussion around hiw to get from 22 NAs to 40 in the conference

Wonder how TV rights and rep player payments will be managed

RLPA has the ability to derail all of this good work

f**king nothing

the stupid GB tour is still subject to the playing leagues and player's associations? So the NRL and RLPA haven't even agreed to it yet.

Oceania Cup - 2 groups of 3 and yay Australia play NZ and Tonga again and that's it. Really if we are going to have this crap just have the Four Nations again and the Pacific Cup. The only difference is that England isn't in it.

Has it been stated why Australia refuse to host GB yet? Other than GB being pointless?

So nothing happened. Great.

The potential for England not play a match as England until 2020 is frightening.

A World 9’s Cup brilliant.

Oceania Cup brilliant

Funding for the America’s and for Asia and Africa, brilliant.

Plans for a World Cup in America and now Canada which is news to me , brilliant,

The only thing I don’t see the point in is the Great Britain tour ?, its :100: England and will be for years to come lol. Just use England.

Countries that are genuily trying to develop like Ireland and Wales and France need more help.

But I think it’s pretty positive to be honest.

It really should just be called England for next year’s tour.

I’m pretty worried about it’s commeric viability. There’s a lot of proposed matches, that will be played over a month? Going be super expensive unless the NRL subsidise something?

I hope the nrl helps because they have all the money in rugby league, lets be honest without the nrl league would be in a world of hurt. It’s the crown jewel, I just hope the nrl invests in the international game.

One would have thought the Players Associations would have been consulted before the meeting so decisions could have been made?

Sounds like more hog wash with nothing in concrete again...

GB is England....why would they change the name? The only thing positive would be no doubt Wayne Bennet would take players from the home nations for development....well from Wales/Ireland that has already qualified for the RLWC :thinking:
